    Respray

Gents, have some money burning holes in my pocket, chipping trunk and faded rear bumper paint on my DS M3, and have been recently pondering a full non-factory respray. Colors that jump to mind are Porsche arena red or slate gray, or maybe some non-henna red. What say you all? Worth it? Complete waste of a good car with (generally nice) original paint? I'm not planning on ever selling, so it would just be for me, but I guess intentions change over time too.....

IMO if you have nice factory paint I would never respray- especially in a different color. But like you said, if it's just for you then go for it.

I also wouldn't change the color on a car, ESPECIALLY a e30 M3. It would kill the value IMO. However, If you plan on keeping the car for a long time, Its your car and you should definitely do what you'd be happy with. Make sure to paint under the trunk lid and get the engine bay + door jams. If your hardcore, get under the carpets

A proper color change costs $$$$ especially on a car like an M3. I'd just paint the two offending panels and keep the rest for maintenance.

If you do a full respray, Id recommend keeping the original color.

Both of these are wise decisions. Remember the odd colored green M3 in NC that was just on sale about 45 days ago either on eBay or C-list and it barely made 17K if memory serves me correctly

yeah, think I will just get the trunk spoiler (not trunk per original drunk post) and rear bumper resprayed. Then save the rest in the s50b32 swap piggy bank.....

                    Trolling?

It's an M3. Go s54 at least if you're going to remove an S14
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

haha yeah, I guess this is 2015 where that isn't crazy talk anymore. I bought the car with a built OBD1 s52 in it already so no pure M's would be harmed :)

no but I think there is another guy on bimmerforums (and maybe here?) with a similar username who went there.

I did a full color change on my car. to do it right takes about 4 months and $7k. if you arent willing to remove all body panels, engine+acc, glass, and media blast it. dont. plz see my side on how to do it right.

yeah that is about the ballpark of what I was expecting having done some more minor resprays (of original color) on other cars. That being said, I think I'm not going to push forward but rather just get the offending panels corrected
