    My 24v 318is from Deutschland

I thought I'd make a "quick" build thread to keep track of things on the car.

Basically I live in Germany now, and while I don't ever plan to sell my e30 in Australia, It just pains me too much to be without it months to a year at a time. So I filled that void with this 318is.

Couple quick specs when I picked it up:

    1990 318is
    Brilliant Rot
    Dark plaid Sport interior :))
    M52B28 with M50 intake manifold
    Koni adjustables, K.A.W Springs
Huge OZ Futura 16x9.5, 16x10, tiny tires.
Wiechers Sport Roll bar, front strut bar, rear strut bar
    4.1 open diff
296mm MiniCooper Works Big brakes with e36 Callipers.

I picked it up in not too bad condition, but really it needed quite a few things.
I would say paintwork is average but good enough for the job. Clearly been some resprays in the past on almost every panel, but minimal rust which is great over here, and generally it's pretty straight. Oh and stupidly the rear roundel was shaved..
The ride was pretty terrible, vibrations and shakes, blown shocks and worn bushings everywhere, but taking care of all that bit by bit.
Engine was idling pretty rough and stalling occasionally, but it pulls nice and runs very smooth on throttle.

Generally though, it was a good start.

First thing was to get the engine inspected and serviced, Got it running and idling better. Wheel bearings, rear disks, and brake pads replaced. Oh and threw some new Konis on the rear.
Sorted out the wheels too, OZ were too loud for me, Just wanted something a bit less bling and more functional.
Picked up these Azev A's and some new Michelin PS3's

Got some fitted floor mats and wired in aux for the stereo

Drove it through the alps. Good shake down of the car, went pretty well no real surprises, just could do with the usual bushings etc. some sway bars would be nice, a few obvious things.
M52 Was nice to drive with, nice amount of power! 4.1 diff ratio sucks with the e36 transmission on the autobahn, but it was fun in the mountain pass', was giving the newer SLK's and Z4's we had a good run for their money

Oh, and I'll never get tired of living close to this!!

I mentioned earlier the boot was "shaved" by one of the previous owners, to I'd like to replace it eventually if I find a BrilliantRot lid, but until then I'll make do with this one. Something had to be done though.

Picked up this is spoiler, rubbed it back and gave it some fresh paint. Looks good as new.

I've also ordered a rear roundel from blunt, I'll see what I can do with it until i get a new deck lid..

Removed the roll bar and painted it satin black and reinstalled with new hardware. Much cleaner.

Also this weekend, Cleaned up the rockers and rear under tray and painted them back to OEM black. Huge improvement.

                Thanks guys

Here's a shot with the "is" skirts and rear roundel installed.

Still need a proper boot lid to fit the badge and spoiler properly..

Next top of the to do list is another full service, Including solving a cooling issue.
Then new subframe and CA bushings, and some H&R sway bars.

I'd also might buy a 3pt harness just to try out for when I make it to the ring.

Dammit I think I'm growing up because I like the new wheels rather than the OZ's, but it probably just suits the car better since it's actually getting DRIVEN.
You did good tinkering with what needed to be tinkered with.

So my housemate and I managed to do some work on the car this last week in our little garage.

We got the new front and rear sway bars, links, and hardware all installed. Love seeing new shiny stuff under the car.
Also managed to press the new poly control arm bushings in. These made a big difference, The old ones were toast!

Next I have some new koni adjustables and new oem strut tops for the front to install. I've never changed front shocks before but we are going to have a go at it!

Also got the Schroth harnesses in and did a few 100kms driving in the black Forrest and they feel great! Not as solid as if I had a proper race seat obviously but still so much more stable than just using the stock belts. I've kept my oem belts in since I won't be using the harnesses for daily driving obviously ;)

Sorry for the shitty quality iPhone pics!
