Sorry have not posted in awhile been very busy at work and had to put a transmission and t case in my truck since it is my DD. I started working on the e30 again this week. So far I tac welded the plates for my engine bay in and seem sealed them! I think I'm going to get pretty deep into shaving the engine bay and make it look as best as possible. Due to lack of funds I ended up not buying forged rods and Pistons... I did drop my block off to a local shop called C-Tech performance to do a basic rebuild on my engine (re-ring, new bearings, all new gaskets, hone, clean, ect.) should be done around the new year. Will post pics of the bay once i get the chance. Thanks!

So since I want to get pretty in depth on shaving the engine bay I want to spread some body filler/ mud to smooth the bay out but I already put seem sealer down probably shouldn't spread body filler over it because it may not stick. Is that correct? Or has anybody ever done that? Any advise? My thinking on it right now is sand the seem sealer down to almost nothing and then spread my body filler... Ps I'm not a body guy lol not my area of expertise lol any advise would be helpful

I don't know the answer to the filler/mud questions (I'm not a body guy either) but I really like your idea of the smooth plates, it'll really make the engine bay look cleaner.Comment

Was debating on what to do for that. I was thinking about just spraying undercoat up in their lol but cavity wax is probably a better idea. Any ideas on how to get up in there better? So I can get all the back? Thanks for your advise!

Im in same position with preventing rust under the welded plates. I just sprayed undercoat like you did before welding and was just gonna roll with it..Comment

Yea I would of put some sort of coating on the under panels. Probably por-15 or some sort of rust inhibitorComment
