Got the block surface all cleaned up:
Started out with a brown scotch bright roloc at low speeds and then moved to a blue Norton rapid strip disc at low speeds since it's a little softer. Also tried a razor and scraper but it wasn't working for me so that's what I busted out the air tools. There is still a little bit of staining but I can't catch my nail on it or feel it so I think it will be fine for my CES head gaske combo.
Also got my timing cover back on along with the passenger motor mount arm and buttoned everything up the most I could until the head gasket shows up this week.
Haven't updated In a while since I made a thread on BFC and I get more answers in that forum but anyway here it is. Motor is completely together now and the only parts I need to finish for my m52 turbo swap is a BOV and exhaust. The motor is still on a stand at my job and I'll be putting it in after I move into my new house that has a garage [emoji41]
Also my m20 had been driving with a rod knock and it finally let loose last week so the car is out of commission until the m52 goes in. I'm assuming the rod bearing on cylinder 6 didn't have anything left in it and just took the rod and maybe piston with it. I found the rod in the road after it shot through my oil pan lmao
Been a hot minute since I updated here since I've been mostly using BFC, car is basically done and I'm just waiting on the exhaust for it to be drivable
She's done! Was driving the car for a month and I cracked the pan through my red 46 pan so I'm now Just finishing up new pan, HIK skid plate, and motor mounts since the cheap UHMW ones I bought I can't get to tighten
