Hey guys I'm new here. Joined to get/inform knowledge. I recently bought a 1985 318i, the old m10 was torn apart and the owner said it was popping head gaskets and just wanted rid of it. In comes me, $700 later and it's in my garage. Head was warped by .040 and the block was cracked. Fortunately I have a friend that recently got rear ended, sorry man, but it comes with everything I need for the swap. $500 for the wrecked car, $700 for the good shell and a few hundred in paint, primer and good ole elbow grease and hopefully I'll have a running car. I've tried to take as many pics as I can but I do get excited and just start tearing into the thing and forget to take pics. But come h**l or high water this thing will be on the road soon. Experience with BMW's = 0, experience with wrenches = 20 years, only thing I "really" lack is $. Please feel free to comment/critisize, without it I may/may not be missing something. Pics coming soon.

I have already pulled the engine, trans and diff along with everyhing in the engine bay. It was pretty rusted so I sanded and primed and painted the entire entire bay. I have also replaced the rack and pinion with a 1995 325i. It is relatively easy, when the pics come you'll see the space I'm working in. But it has been a lot of fun so far.

Ok so I'm trying to post pics but I guess I'm retarted. When my wife gets up in the morning I'll ask her to help. But I have uploaded some pics in my profile if you want to see them. Please reply. It take a lot to offend me so don't hesitate to tell me what you think. So far I haven't had to buy really any parts. Some where down the line of owners of this car someone really appreciated it and replaced all the bushings and bearings. As far as the donor car, it was the guys baby and was taken care of, again sorry man, but without it this build wouldn't be taking place.
