I have no idea what I'm doing

The title speaks for itself. I have no idea what I'm doing. I started with my daily 89' 325i bronzit coupe. Was my first car that I drove everyday for 2 years
So long story short one day a lady decides to cut me off and I hit the back of her. Not much damage but enough to where is was a little upset. My buddy just recently picked up a 318 vert. I went to thinking and bought the vert off him so I had a car and decided to start making the e30 of my dreams (well attempt).
Pic of vert if you were wondering.

So my build started. Obviously the first thing to do is think I still love stance and put the car on the ground. Delete side moldings and do other sick stance things
I will admit the car looked amazing (IMO) esthetically but was a turd at this point mechanically. And yes that is static and I scraped.......... A lot.

After a month or two of driving the car around a little it went into a constant overheating episode so I was fed up and ripped the m20 out

I had no plan at this point. I knew I wanted an American V8 and to be able to go fast. I looked into it and decided on the fox body 5.0. I bought everything I needed. Engine, tranny, mounts, wiring harness. I started to slow down on progress and lost a little interest in the build itself. Then my friend comes to me and offers a built LS motor for a price I could not pass up. So what's the smart 20 year old like myself do? Scrap the plan of 5.0 that he already spent $1500 on and go for an even more expensive swap
So time goes on and I work on the shell a little

Just to clarify these wheels are not mounted. There is actually no suspension in the car at this point it is just strategically placed on wood and Jack stands to look good so I can have some motivation.

And with all of the above. It brings us to today. I no longer am going with an American V8. I traded what was left of my 5.0 for an M50B25. I decided since my buddy is building a non-vanos turbo I might as well do the same. But with vanos :)

I will be trying to keep this post updated as I move through my build. It will be slow going since I am terrible at saving money so bare with me haha. Criticize me, let me know if you see something wrong that I'm doing, and above all enjoy the build as much as I do.

They are over fenders from a guy in Australia. Add about 2 inches out from existing quarter. Will be able to run an 11 in the rear with minimal camber now. Main reason on cutting the whole quarter panel off if for the little weight saving. Don't worry the cage will compensate for load of structural integrity. And the top picture is the first year of ownership and before 2 years of winter destroyed the car. The pictures are a little deceiving too. Car had a good amount of rot and the paint was subpar.

Would have liked the V8 power plant to remain however, not my car though

Me as well. But in the end the cost of the swap the way I wanted was going to be a large amount more expensive than the m50 turbo the way I want it. I still want to do an Ls but unfortunately not at this time

That's a lot of intercooler piping. Just run your piping under the headlights with some silicon 90's and your charge piping will be an absolute joke to make, and look cleaner with much less volume.

I'll take that into consideration. It's a universal kit so they just give you a lot of pipe to work with. I plan to go under the frame rail. I won't know for sure until I get suspension in the car and start on cage and tube front and rear end. Then I can find my mounting area. Just worried about it being low to the ground under the rail so above behind the headlights might be the best option.

Small update. It's been a good amount of time since I've worked on the car. My motivation comes and goes, but we got a few small things done and started this weekend. Bay is almost stitched welded all the way. I plan the cut the front half before the strut tower out for a bolt in tune front end so just doing the back half mainly the towers and rails.
Also a couple buddies helped out to get the rear wells stripped and coated with POR15. Still need to finish the left rear and stitch weld the strut mount then we can move the the front wells and underneath. Have a few suspension pieces coming in this week so hopefully I the momentum going!

                            More to come this week
