I have the OG boost gauge. favorite modification in my car. Great product. Glad to see you back at it bubba. -
Notes above. Some questions for the community:- Would you be more interested in an Oil Pressure version, or a Boost version?
BOOST - Would you be willing to completely disassemble your tachometer to perform this conversion yourself?
YES.
Not too difficult after a DIY is written.
I'll take photos and even have a spare dead cluster I can mess with first.
Any feedback, suggestions, or concerns are welcome.
Would want an exact match for font, colour, and style for gauge overlay. Basically make it look OEM.
Ideally gauge would only require a vacuum/boost line and do everything internally.

Hi everyone,
Back again.
While testing, I encountered several different versions of the factory econometer, and their behavior was often inconsistent from one unit to another. Because of this, I've concluded that replacing the entire mechanism with a modern motor and control electronics is the most reliable and repeatable solution. I'd appreciate some feedback from the community before moving further with the project.
The idea is to replace the factory econometer (MPG/Economy gauge) in the instrument cluster with either:- an Oil Pressure Gauge, or
- a Boost Gauge for turbocharged applications.
To achieve this, the original tachometer would need to be completely disassembled. The econometer mechanism would be removed and replaced with a new stepper motor and custom electronics that would drive the new gauge. The factory gauge face and needle appearance would be retained as much as possible to preserve the original E30 look.
Some questions for the community:- Would you be more interested in an Oil Pressure version, or a Boost version?
- Would you be willing to completely disassemble your tachometer to perform this conversion yourself?
The installation would require:- Opening the instrument cluster
- Removing and disassembling the tachometer, removing the needle
- Removing the original econometer mechanism, removing the needle
- Installing a new motor and control electronics
- Reassembling and calibrating the gauge
No permanent modifications to the cluster housing would be required, but this is definitely not a simple plug-and-play installation.
The project is still in development, but I'm trying to gauge the level of interest before investing further time and resources.
Any feedback, suggestions, or concerns are welcome.

Still working on this.
Doing final tests, but due to the lack of time, progress is slow.
No issues detected so far.Leave a comment:

It was not our intention to make you nervous and bitchy. But I guess that is the side effect of our products. ;)
We've taken on stuff that others don't have the cojones to do. So please show some respect to fellow developers. As we do to you.
Regarding the more relevant stuff... the gauge is in final testing stage. We need to change the sensor for another one with a more easy to connect to port. If it works, that should be it.
Cheers.Leave a comment:

I think they might be busy trying to figure out their VERY VERY POOR reliability issues on one or more products. Just a hunch. Don't let your car catch on fire from two guys in russia that only care about sales, and not your car, that don't long term test their products or have any clue about PCB trace widths. Just my 2 cents. But what do I know?
TLDR - don't' buy from these guys.Last edited by george graves; 10-29-2018, 02:08 AM.Leave a comment:
