Very neat. Didn’t know such a tool existed. You said the tool makes a double flare? Looks like a single...maybe just a pic
He made the tool, and also made the new rivets from stainless steel. He preflares one end of the rivet with a different tool so once it is loaded into the hand held tool you only fllare the interior side.
Made a bit of progress yesterday although I feel like I should have been able to make more... Today will hopefully be more productive.
Yesterdays main task was cleaning, sanding and repainting the window lining trim. For this SEM 49133 Trim Black Ultra Matte was used. The legacy paint I've always used (SEM 39143) is charchol in color by comparison. A note made that the ultra black line is more glossy than the legacy line so stepping down to Matte is a perfect sheen, where as the ultra black Satin is too much.
First off the bpillar covers required extensive sanding as they were covered in small scratches, presumably from rings or something. They would be first to get many coat, wet sanded down smooth, and then a top coat along with the small trim joiners.
The forward/upper window frame trim would be next.
and we'll get the dried trim on the car before I trip over it.

While those are drying I'll attach the lower window molding, which was already painted earlier I just didn't picture.

Lastly I put the first piece of glass into the car some time later. All of the glass is going to get a once over with cerium oxide prior to install so it looks as nice and slick as possible. The polish did a really good job with the vertical scratches from aged window seals completely removing all but a few. I can live with what is left, in trade I get a set of period correct glass with the correct production stamps and DOT numbers for the car. New glass from BMW the bug stamps are all weird and totally different than original.
After that I moved onto the dashboard, blew all the duct work apart and loaded up the dishwasher came out very nice and clean with next to zero effort on my part.
Letting dressing soak into the dash a bit before buffing it to a dry satin shine.
I mean, if someone in Houston wants it... sure. Trash day is Tuesday though and I don't have space or patience to have it laying about. Sad thing is that it was perfect but FedEX fucked it up, they don't appear to want to pay the insurance claim, so I had a local specialist attempt a repair which came out lousy, so now I'm doubled down into this turd.... I just want it to go away. $600 wasted.
This mornings project was painting the lower skirting black as was factory. Masked it all off and took to it with red scotchbrite to give the paint a solid key into the clearcoat.

I love the OEM goodness that the black textured lower line provides. Used to be the other way that I loved it color matched.
Excited to see the hovercar land :p
