Good luck getting the backlash set on that diff... I could never get mine right.

Had an epic day with the Verty30. First, I had to button up the rebuilt 3.73, then pull old Open diff then bolt in the 3.73.
Interesting find when I cleaned the old diff that I pulled off The Verty 30. There is a white “A” painted on top of the differential casing at he same location where the “S” is painted on the rebuilt 3.73 that I put in. I know everybody out there in BMW land swears that the “S” means that it is a LSD unit. I’m not so sure that’s true. Me thinks that “S” means it’s a standard or manual and the “A” means it’s from an Autotragic. The Verty30 is a five speed and the unit I pulled off was a replacement unit the original owner put in a while ago.
Also, I know the unit I pulled off is open but I’m trying to figure out its ratio. I indexed the input and output flanges and the input flange spins approximately 3.25 to 3.50 times for every out put rotation. However, based on the rpm output I’m thinking its a 3.73 open. More to come on that...Here’s some photos:

wheels look great. you found those really fast.

the "s" on the top of the diff means "sphere" which is auf deuche for limited slip.

Yes, they came for sale locally and I jumped on them.

With respect to the “S,”. If that means Sphere then what does the white “A” stand for on the open differential I pulled off the Verty30 mean?

                    "absolute garbage" haha

Throw some smilies, euro bumpers and do a little drop and that vert will look so awesome, not that it doesn't look good already!

250 miles spent in the Verty30 yesterday. Man, oh, man that car can drive.
