    ITB without standalone ECU

Hey I was thinking about doing ITB's on one of my m20 engines and thought to use motorcycle throttle bodies but then the standalone ecu is like 700 bucks minimum. So it got me thinking about modifying the AFM. I believe all it is is a barn door type flap that has a resistance that changes based on how far open the "flap" is. could you hypothetically put the Air flow meter on the exhaust? obviously some modifications would need to be done but would that work almost? My thinking is all it needs to do is have the flap move based on the air the engines using. I know its pretty ridiculous but just thinking outside the box ya know?

    Thanks

If you are willing to do some soldering you can get a mega squirt kit for as little as $300

you can put the afm on the inlet with the right airbox, but ive also seen a MAF used. you can make an airbox without much difficulty. im sure you could find a used ECU if you hunt around

i would not look into the AFM on exhaust any further.....

Wouldn't there be throttle response issues with the AFM in front of a large plenum feeding into ITBs?

since you'll be making a plenum/airbox from scratch ideally you would make a smaller plenum like the size of the dbilas which is designed to work with OE AFM.

if you were truly worried about throttle response youd ditch motronic and the AFM and run a proper tps and full standalone where you have the freedom to easily change the fuel delivery and injection timing, ignition timing etc

                  Well yeah,,, to a degree.
Once one experiences an S14 with no AFM and Alpha N or an MAF vs with an AFM in front of the TBs, it feels absolutely broken when you feel it with an AFM again.

That's what well tuned acceleration enrichment and deceleration enleanment are for.

That doesn't work very well with AFM and throttle switch
