    1985 325e

Hi everybody, just picked up a one owner 229,000 mile, manual trans, e30. Its got cloth interior and no cracks in the dashboard. Got a folder full of receipts and records, starting with the bill of sale from the dealership.

I have been reading up as much as possible on e30's, this is my first BMW. But I have always had German cars, VW, Benz. Already got the bentley service manual.

I need to do a timing belt change asap, water pump as well? Any suggestion on where to get the timing belt and other parts? Is there a place that sells a kit? Anything else I should check out while i'm in there?

I'll post some pics when I figure out how.

    Thanks

    JP

Welcome to the wonderful world of e30s. If you don’t know and/or have no records of the last timing belt change then it is imperative that you change the belt. For that matter I would change the timing belt to include the timing belt, engine timing belt tensioner, camshaft seal, crank shaft seal, water pump, thermostat , PS pump belt, alt drive belt, ac belt, distributor cap, spark plugs and possibly ignition coil. You also should do a valve adjustment and replace the valve cover gasket. Change the coolant, differential fluid and brake fluid.

Awesome, Thank you. Exactly what I'm looking to hear, I've been looking thru the folder that came with the car and can't nail down the last timing belt change.

Found the receipt for the last timing belt, 2005 and 40,000 miles ago. Ticking time bomb? Should I stop doing clutch drops at 3500 rpm?

Any suggestions on where to get aforementioned parts?

        Thanks
