My retired '88 M3 GTS2 Pro Challenge Street Car

Hey look what followed me home a few weeks ago ...

It's to far from a restoration so I'll bring this back from race track to street duty.

It's been sitting for about 4 years. It was kind of a beside the barn find. Updates include:
    1. Change to 1 color paint
    2. Redo both seat upholstery
    3. Update steering wheel
    4. Get some door glass or lexan in it
    5. Install aluminum or carbon door cards & 1/4 window pieces
    6. Replace race tires with street tires
    7. Complete fluid change
    8. replace race rotors with street rotors

Its your car,,, but why not keep it a race car?
Its what it was born to do!
They are such better race cars than street cars.

You are correct as to the "born to race", however, at this juncture of my time with the car I'll have as much fun & probably more use as a retired racer gone street car/sometime autocross car. Adding the street tires, door windows & replacing the factory door cards with a carbon fiber set, which I can change back, will be the only things that really push it out of the GTS2 ... so all can be reversed in case I have a change of heart later on.

I'm not changing it so much ... so I can do a little autocross with it & still drive it home. It's not like I'm doing a LS swap ...

If I could get someone to trade me a street car for my racer ... I'd probably consider it.

Sounds like a cool project to me. Sounds like it will basically still be a race car with proper windows, new livery and tyres and brakes that work on the street.

got any more photos that shows just how "Race car" it is?

Is the cage welded in? Can we get more pics of the car exterior/interior? Real cool!

You are correct ... except I'm going to try my best to keep the numbers & stickers less the original livery name, driver & anything personal of the previous driver/owner.

Cage is C/M TIG welded in. I'm trying to post more pix but this site is fighting me ... not sure the issue ... it took the original.

A few more of the interior ... as I say it was a beside the barn find!!

I do things like this that I'm working on now also:

                and this one previously:

and I've got a little street car/race car building experience:

                I think I'll do the M justice ...

That looks pretty awesome. ncie find and nice save. Shame the inside was open to the elements, but as long as its not too rusty there inst really much interior to wreck. (besides seats which im sure you will replace.

to add photos click the little yellow square with the mountain in just copy in your link, like so.

I fixed your post for you. If you use a [IMG] tag followed by [/img] instead of the [url] tag then your photos will show without someone having to click it.
