Wow I wish I could multiple quote...

Altstadthof: Thank you. I appreciate it.

NY2MYE30: I am glad you found it also. Thank you.

      e30nub: Thank you.

      Lukem23: Thanks again

Jamese30: Thank you. Anything I could do to help motivate anoyone is my pleasure. I have been motivated my many people on these boards for so long, that I am glad to do anything I could to help others out, and also learn a lot along the way.

I was not too big of a red on gold fan, but I wanted something different. Honestly I walked in the paint shop planing on buying gunmetal, but once I gotthere and I was looking through the colors, gold just stood out.
If once I get it on and done, I dont like it, I will paint them Gunmetal for sure.

I hope it looks good though, lol.

Thank you. I really appreciate all of your advice.

I actually may be interested in that, it beats having to get the whole MTech 2 rear. Do you have a pic of it? Thanks.

So with the onslaught of hurricanes that were supposed to hit us, but never did, and the terrible weather they brang with them, I have been unable to work on the car as much. School starting didnt help much either.
Well I finally got the rust fixed in the trunk area, and now I am starting to tape up the windows and prep the car for primer. It seems to be smooth, and I think I have fixed every ding. I should be done with the taping up tomorow, and I may prime it tomorow if all goes well.
Right now, I need to sleep. It is 5:51 am and I just finished working on it.

Damnn such a tight working area, but I think the end results will worth it!

So the car is going to be gold?

Yeah, it gets kind of annoying sometimes, but I just keep on working and try not to think about it.

The car is going to be Imola Red, I painted the wheels Gold.

Yeah man, almost there, lol. Yeah I am painting it myself. I am going to do the primer in my garage, and I am looking for a booth clost to my house that I could rent. So far I have been unlucky, so it look like I may be painting it in my garage. I dont want to though.

with all the work your doing now would be a great time to do a color change if you havent bought paint yet.
I have seen some amazing jobs come out of garages. Im sure you will do just fine.
prep work is 90% of the paint job.
If the car isnt cleaned and prepped right then you wont get a good spray.

                      Thank you.
I really wanted to paint it white, but it would bother me that the engine bay would be red until the swap. Because of that I chose to paint it Imola Red, so it is a color change, but nothing too crazy. I am painting the door jams and unter the trunk though.

I actually have a friend who could get me a booth. While priming the car today I noticed my compress isnt good enough for the job, it wont keep a consitant enough air pressure.

Before painting the car I used PPG Cleaner, and used the air blower to remove the dirt. I think it did it enough, or atleast I hope so. LOL

Today I got some progress done. I started to finish taping everything up. Once I was done I felt energetic so I said screw it lemme prime it.
So I did just that. The passenger side came out great. After that my gun and compressor kept messing up so it did not come out as well as planned. I am going to use another gun to paint it again soon. I did not get to finish the hood or roof.

                        And then

                        Note the hood

                        Door jams.

After another coat of primer I think it should be fine. I sanded one of the bad areas, and it wasnt bad at all. I could honestly prob leave them, but think it would be better to smooth out and re coat.

Well my update today is small picture wise, but is pretty big in the whole painting of the car. I put the second and last coat of primer. The car looks good now. All I have to do is sand it smooth, and spray the color. There is two small spots I need to fix first.
Here is how the car stands

                          Painted these also

This is why I had to stop today. I love Miami Weather

I have a question. Now that I have put pretty much the final coat of primer (I have to fix two spots) Should I wet sand the car, or dry sand it? TIA

                                BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!
first block it... cause with that much primer you are going to be wavey.....
THEN wetsand to get a nice smooth even surface....

you should prob also throw on a thin layer of primer guide... or whatever you americans call it... my painters just call it primer or sanding guide... (thin layer of black paint from far away).... it will show you highs and lows... its the same as charcoal
