I got a little bit of work done the past days.
Since I had modified the stock tranny brace to accept the tilt with the new motor. I had to re weld it back to its stock location.
I also decided to change the Rear main seal, Pilot bearing, and throw out bearing. The clutch has been changed before and is in good condition.
Tranny off
Old RMS out, new one in
I took out the wire harness finally, does anyone know what this harness connects to? It was connected and I could follow it, but I am limited in space right now.
The pilot bearing was too small
The throw out bearing was also wrong, so thats it for today.

I need to get that welded up real quick. It was a crack that was filled with JB weld.
I also worked on the front end
New tierod

Installed
Now on to the e36 steering rack
Tie rods on.

I missed a gasket on the oil pickup tube before so I had to remove the pan again

As soon as the Valve cover is welded up, the motor is ready to drop in.Last edited by motorsports_3; 02-18-2010, 12:10 AM.

I noticed that I would hit the heat sheild on the mount
That had to go
It was still close, so there were spots that I had to smooth out

Today I got in the new pulley and tie rod end.
I also rented a bearing puller to get that damn CSB off.
Pics of the process
Off
New one on
A/C belt, and WP pulley on
Now on to the e34 oil pan
With the pan off this was the best time to deal with the oil pump nut
Nut off
New nut Thread locked on, and the threading messed up
e34 oil pick up tube
Sanded the pan and block to clean it off
Copper gasket applied
Pan on
Belt on
Dip stick installed.
Thats it for today.

I got a little bit of work done today, but the damn CSB was hardto remove so I need to get a bearing puller. The rain poured on me while removing the oil pan, so I had to call it quits.
I got a few parts in today. The SS kit, and temp guage are the main things.
Removing the Water pump, T stat, and belts
Off
New ones on
A/C belt on
I found this cracked so I need to buy a new one tomorow
Old Temp guage
New temo guage installed
Note stock e36 shifter to z4 3.0 shifter
Installing the parts
Removing Traction Control
One of my biggest fears when starting this was losing track of tubes and wires.
Does anyone know where this one goes? (This one goes to the charcol cannister, right?)
Ends here
Starts here
And this one on the e36 (This one goes to the charcol cannister, Right?)
I almost got the pan off before it started to pour. This was the last pic I could take
Thanks.Last edited by motorsports_3; 02-11-2010, 08:07 PM.
