No, it actually had 3 steel support bars running underneath it that I had to cut off, but the contour of the foam on the underside is the same as the E30 seat, so it fits in the well for it perfectly. I've got a good idea for mounts to bolt it in, I'll get some pics when I get started on them. I can't believe it fits as well as it does.

To the '89 Cirrusblau 325i - Modded Janderson's seat adapters to fit my Houndstooth Recaro LS's and installed them. Rewelded one of the flanges on the midpipe in preperation to install the Remus Exhaust.
To the '91 Alpine M50 swap car - Pulled out the center vents and installed a gauge pod for oil pressure & temp gauges. Rolled the rear fenders, modified the aluminum seat brackets for fitting them in a 4dr. (had to weld an extra piece of aluminum for the seat belt receptacle). Cleaned up the fan wiring and various other engine bay stuff.Originally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. They barely hold everything together and they only sold a lot because of the popularity of their older sibling.

It wasn't a problem with your brackets, but with the recaro LSs I was using. To try and describe it, the center of the seat bottom sat at a lower point than were the mounting bolts were, so when I attempted to line the holes up the brackets would interfer with the sides and were off by about 1/4" - 3/8". The way I did was put them in a bridgeport mill, eyeball the center of the hole and slotted them over with a 3/8" 4 Flute Ball End Mill. Simple.
I think it was just a problem with these ones as the SRD as SPD I have did not seem to have this problem. Once slotted everything bolted up beautifully.Originally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. Nothing today, but yesterday I repinted the front grilles that had turned a matte, nasty grey. I also put in H4/H1 headlights in place of the sealed beams, installed a new tow hook cover on the front bumper, and replaced my hood roundel. Cleaned and painted my front lip with black trim paint.
Bigger job was cleaning up the areas on the underside where the main hoop base plates and the rear downtube plates were welded in. This involved sanding those areas down to bare metal, removing all loose undercoat in the area, priming, and then applying rubberized undercoating.
Lastly, I mounted my driver side harness.
Lots more to do before April. . . .

Over the weekend, I snapped two bolts in the timing case of my M42 92 cabby while trying to get the water pump out. I also deleted the A/C, and jacked it up high on my brand-new harbor freight 6-ton jackstands preparing for oil pan intake manifold, coolant line delete, electric fan conversion, and all kinds of other fun shit to come."I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death."
