This is going to make my S52 swap feel underpowered and weak. Very nice work and writeups. I look forward to seeing it in person someday. -
this things sweet dude nice work. I remember my dad telling me about one of his friends with a supercharged 350 in his e30. Ive always heard stories but this is the first v8 swap ive seen that looked like someone knew what they were doingLeave a comment:

I have been busy running down the last (almost) parts we need; PS hoses and fittings (hydraulic supply shop has JIC 3/8 (like AN6) fittings for the PS hoses for about $3.00 ea)
Had to drop the radiator off to have the RH end cap swapped since the outlet was right in front of the A/C pulley; new cap for about $75.00
To those who thought that our engine mounts looked weak:
Here is the FEA loaded with 3G's vertically and horizontally and it only used 1/3 the ultimate strength (i.e. it could handle up to a 9G bump)

I'm a Mech E Major (Soph) at UW... Who knows what I'll eventually do one day. Guess that's what I'm trying to figure out right now...Leave a comment:

It's nice to see a skilled engineer like your dad using his knowledge for personal projects. What do you do for a living?Honestly this project is a learning experience for the both of us. He's got a bunch of experience as chief mechanical engineer for a company in the aerospace industry and is just ridiculously knowledgeable, but neither of us had a bunch of fabricating experience. We bought a welder at the beginning of the project and I practiced on scrap for awhile and that's it. I think that a lot of projects are possible if you are smart, learn quickly, and plan ahead well. It kind of bugs me when I see projects that people just shove off to a shop to do for them...

I'll be graduating with my Mech. Engineering degree in April and hope that I can one day pull off some professional shit like this.

That looks pretty sexy. I'm sure something of the sort will eventually be done.
This'll be similar to what i'll do if i bust the diff mount eventually. Cage and rear bars tie down to a custom diff mount (same style as orig. one just made out of plate steel) That pic is from a guy here in Aus who's done a 2jz swap (hope you dont mind i stoled your pics ben! :D)
You guys would have no problem adapting a different diff if need be, your skills are there :)
Yes, he is from Gig Harbor and I heard he was upgrading to an LS7 as well. Crazy stuff!!Bob Heacox is from Gig Harbor, correct? Last I heard he was upgrading to LS7.
