GM's way to save gas, and to advoid the gas guzzler tax. My Firebird did have it, but not no more. And to the OP, i may of asked you this before? But are you going to do anything to the motor like a cam or something?

    here's a little update:

We got our clutch but we're waiting on slave cylinder AN -3 fittings. Ugh.... We still need to put in heat blanketing but that's about it. Here are some pics of the final brake booster linkage, vats disabler and some others.

Dropping in engine THIS WEEK. I promise! :p

Wiring is actually not going to be a problem. We got a LS1 swap harness from a guy in cali (www.scanmyride.com) but he's no longer operational. Just go on ls1tech.com and search for something similar. You need to get a 325 electrical troubleshooting manual for your year (can search for that and download a PDF) and get a f-body sevice manual 3 volume set off e-bay and study them for a long time!! We already have done this, luckily, and we will post a listing of all the connections that need to be made once we complete them and *hopefully* don't see smoke! We think that there are only about 10 connections that need to be made. Also, if you want to keep VATS (the LS1 vehicle anti theft system that shuts down the motor if hotwired) you need to make a VATS simulator which is a fairly simple trick little circuit. Finally the T-56 will normally skip from 1st to 4th if not under heavy acceleration so we will put in a skip shift eliminator patch cable (which is really just a 2.2k resistor) to delete that!

Please give short instructions how did you manufacture the shaft between the u-joint on steering shafts.

Is it just a tube or shaft with welded pieces from original shaft of a machined piece?
Yes this is pretty much correct. We just got 2 E34 steering intermediate shaft and u-joint, cut off the intermediate shaft, leaving the little spline at the end and welded them together with 1/2" pipe from home depot. Overall length 10.5-10.75"

LS1=great fun......glad to see this move foward. so is the LS1 alot lighter than the M20? They are lighter than the rotarys...these guy are in the area and acatully did some welding for the oil return on my turbo car, but they would be proud. they have been wanting to do this to one of my cars for about 2 years now, I just have not had the cash to do it www.hinsonsupercars.com
