    My 2002's resurrection - 56k go die

...Wiiiilll be chronicled here. Granted, its not the 2002FAQ site, but I find myself here a hell of a lot more often and so .

Posting this I hope will actually get me to work faster on the car itself, and not doing pure research and development as I might as well call it on parts I keep buying and needing to figure out how to make them work. But they need to be done too.

Anyhow, for now I'll just start with a post of all the parts I can find pictures of i have for the car, and perhaps even a few embarrassing pictures of what the car looks like right now.

Right now I'm working on building a rack to double-stack two race cars in an enclosed trailer, so once that is done it will vacate the garage of one, and allow things to be moved around in order to get my 02 in the garage to do some of the more serious body work that I've recently found I need to do.

First off, in no particular order, here's a pile of pictures I've gathered up from my photobucket site of many of the parts I have lying around here waiting for the reassembly.

MSII with soon-to-be Extra code. 3 coil drivers to be set up with a Chrysler coil pack wasted spark IGN. Also has the DLPTXRXG USB adapter board, and a circuit I built in the proto area to utilize the stock 3 wire BOSCH PWM idle valve on the M20 that I'll be using. Stupid thing doesn't turn on though, much less communicate, so that's one of the projects I'm working on right now to fix. I just need to burn the code and put it away till I can put it in the car and start messing with tuning. I also may change the routing of the wires to cut them down to one per, I bought a rather beefy DB9 connector, 7.5A rating per terminal. We'll see.

    Bilstein Sport shocks-

Full set of Energy Suspension urethane bushings F/R-

The jewel of the project, besides the car, a NOS E21 323i 5-Speed OD tranny. Drool. ;) -

Some of my exhaust, MSDS Shorty headers, some V-Band clamps and a new stock Sachs clutch kit-

With the down pipe and center resonator clamped on. The rest of the exhaust is fully 2.5" SS-

GC weld-on coilover kit, camber/caster plates, and some eibach pro kit rear springs. Not so sure about those rear springs but I guess I might as well try them. I hear they're really soft and low-

2x Schroth AutocontrolII ASM belts w/ pads. I don't know if I'll be keeping these so if anybody sees this that might want them theyre brand new. I'd want close to what I spent on them, but shoot me an offer. Tentatively selling them because my seats wouldn't allow them to coil out. They would work great with seats with headrest posts, or with one hole side to side for harnesses...oh well.

Fiberglass hood AND trunk lid. Both have stock mounting locations and are not only shells, I guess I have a picture of the underneath too-

Front subframe painted up with black Zero-Rust. Basically just like POR15. I did the rear suspension and control arms too, you'll just have to trust me, I'm not going to post all that boring stuff :) I just forgot to reinforce the vertical motor mount side with some thicker metal wrapped around the outside. I'll have to grind off some paint and do that, its been a while and some spots have a little bit of surface rust too, so I'll have to touch it up anyway-

Pedal box, yeah, so interesting! Primed, painted, then slathered on some seam sealer, and painted it again. It's put back together now-

I actually started to paint the inside with a coat of zero-rust. It's not rusted back there or anything, but I thought I should just put a coat down over the whole inside. I'm not going to get it painted body color in there, too much money, and it won't be seen anyway. I had some light spots of surface rust coming up from where I had removed all of the tar sound deadener, so it will all be uniform when I get back to it. The floorboards and up into the feet wells have it too, but no pics-

    Firewall blanket...-

Ooh look, a picture of my megaview. See? My MS worked at some point! I'm really not pleased with it right now, and dont have a clue why it wont turn on. Kinda pissed actually. Either way, I'll be making a custom enclosure for the ticker to sit on top of the dash where a seat belt light used to go. I have a cable I built to remotely mount the back of the board that's considerably bigger than the display somewhere else, like in/under the dash-

Hella H4 lamps, I also have newish headlight buckets, supposedly NOS so I'll need to just make some new plastic nuts that the adjuster screws go into because a few broke, but they're new and not all bent up like my old ones-

Turbo bodywork, flares, front airdam, trunk spoiler and an extra piece, a fiberglass rear bumper as well-

My seats, Sparco Torino 2's. I'll be tearing out the original seat rails because they're crap and making some so that these don't require any ridiculous adapter below the sliders. Mounted as low as possible to just space the hand knob above the bump in the transmission tunnel where the original rails used to come out from. I don't want to cut them off, even though it wouldn't be much more work than I already have to do-

E21 front hubs. I also have volvo calipers, '77 320i vented rotors, new bearings obviously, and braided lines-

Gas tank was stripped, derusted, and getting POR15. It was also sealed on the inside with the POR15 tank sealant kit (this is my 2nd tank, the first one I left the sealant in too long and fucked up the inside :weak:). Then I sprayed the por15 self etching primer outside, I think I painted it, then I put 3M undercoating on, primed it again (probably didnt have to =/) and finished it off with another coat of paint. It was a little messy from the POR15 peeling away from the sender opening so I thought it would look kinda neat for the top of it to have some texture too, so while I was undercoating it I sprayed it on the top as well.

The tank that got messed up I cut open to take a look at-

A picture with all sorts of shit I got from Blunt Tech Industries! I dont need that knee trim, oh well... Unpictured is a set of euro side markers-

Oh, my headlight buckets. I found a picture. They also came with some H4 housings with flat lenses, they look sick. They have spots for city-lights too, just one is missing the clip to hold the H4 bulb in. Not a problem to find somewhere...-

Thats probably about 80% of the stuff I have. I also have all sorts of new steering components, new drag links, tie rods, a new Momo competition steering wheel and hub adapter. Small FIAMM air horns :) BBS RS' in 15x8. New front fenders. All sorts of spare glass. Redone console that I might not use, I just haven't built a face for it yet. 1990 318i fuel pump and sender (Thanks Cary). Crack free dash, ETC ETC...lots of stuff.

Nice. When we're both finished we need to compare 1/4 times.

Sounds good :) I forgot to post pics of the actual car itself, but it's a sad sight right now. I'll get to that here in a minute. ST Swaybars are also tucked away in a shed outside.

I'm willing to bet mine looks worse. It's about 15 different colors and packed full of boxes of parts - ready to move.

Looks great man. I plan to start doing many of the above noted mods to mine in the future after school. I am just going to keep it on the road till I am through with school and its complete resto time.

                  I am extremely impressed!

would you mind listing a vendor for the fiberglass parts?

Bad ass looking project! Makes me really want to get back on my 2002 project. That exhaust looks strangely familiar, did you buy that from someone on 2002faq? I made/assembled, then sold something extremely similar a couple years ago when I decided to go turbo with my m20.
