        Nice! When you have it up and running you should come out to a in-n-out meet on a thursday night. What are your plans for exhaust setup?

          *edit: Even my nonvanos m50 with no exhaust was shaking shit off the walls, im surprised your s50 seems so docile.

            gonna drive it open header to Tri-Valley saturday morning. Dave doesnt work there anymore, but his shop foreman George took over and he is still doing work for Edge, so thats good enough for me.

              that is a damn fine automobile you got there. this is the first time i have viewed this thread but i just sat down and read all 7 pages. looks like you hit a few snags here and there but big time congrats on getting it running. if you dont mind my asking, i am curious about the next cost of the swap. how much was the total when you were done?

                fuck. my brakes dont work. i think the booster is bad. gotta find another booster, and pull the intake manifold off again to change it out. gonna be a lil while i suppose, holiday weekend means i aint gonna find a booster anytime soon. damnit.

                  doood! doubleyou tee eff!

                  fuck =(

                  What brought the conclusion of the booster? Check the vacuum for it? I'm not going back searching the thread, but did you change out the booster for a different one or something?

                    IX booster, im pretty sure the vaccum is ok, the car idles really smooth, and the booster vaccum hose is clamped onto the intake manifold. time will tell, im going to try and bleed the brakes 2m.

                    i did install the IX booster upside down so that the vaccum is on the engine side, that shouldnt matter though.

                      i urge you to recheck vacuum and the grommet on the booster....i had the same problem and it turned out to be a stupid leak problem...also check that checkvalve. hope its not a bad booster. if anything i got an IX one laying around which i bought becuase i thought i had a bad booster.

                      my car too idled smoothly even with the leaky booster.

                      i tested my booster the following way: put my mouth to the hole, suck real hard while i pressed the rod into the ground...if the booster's good, the rod should literally push in with very minor effort

                      i did the same thing as you did...moddin the rod to eliminate the spacer and be able to fit the resevoir where its supposed to ;) badass!!
                      No more e30s for me.

                        Yea, check the check valve, make sure it is in the right way around. Also, you can use the booster from a 735, I believe. It's the one I used.

                          QFT.

                          That and maybe spray some carb cleaner or something around the fitting too and see if the idle changes from it getting sucked in. Test all over the vacuum lines. Even though you said you just moved the vacuum line from your old booster to this one, check the valve and all that anyway. I've never had to, but if you do end up removing the booster before figuring it out, try that method of making your own vacuum and pushing the rod in...

                            got the brake situation worked out. i didnt cut down the booster rod enough, so i had to bend the tab on the brake pedal. that metal on the pedal is freakin strong, was really hard to bend even after getting it red hot first.

                            so now i just need to get the exhaust fabbed up and installed and i will be good to go. hopefully i can squeeze in a photo shoot this weekend.
