Good vid.
Ok, now that we know how to install it, what does it specifically do?
edit: Added "specifically" since I want to know what it will be able to gauge.Last edited by NeedaBimmer; 04-03-2012, 11:30 PM.

So is this much like the previous gauges? You can choose between narrowband/wideband/volt meter?
EDIT: just reread the thread title. Sweet!Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Final version - ready for sale - taking pre-orders now - PM me:
Welcome to redrocketlabs.com today we are going to take a look at a brand new product, it’s the service interval lights to voltmeter conversion kit.
This easy to do DIY kit comes pre-built, and is easy to install with just simple hand tools.
Your service interval lights are the 7 leds located on the bottom on the instrument cluster that BMW used to remind owners when to take their car into the dealer. If you are like me, these like don’t really serve a function anymore, so this kit allows you to convert this gauge into something much more useful, in this case, a voltmeter gauge. For reasons I don’t understand, BMW didn’t include a voltmeter gauge in e30’s – and that quite a shame since a voltmeter is such a basic useful gauge.
The gauge is really easy to install. There are two main components, the driver board, and the LED board.
The gauge displays voltages from 10.0 volts to 16.0 volts, come pre-calibrated, and is very accurate.
The gauge is very useful in helping diagnose problems with your electrical system - and can keep you from getting stranded.
Normally your car should be producing around 12 volts before you start your motor, and above 13 volts after the motor is running.
An example of how useful this gauge is, say you get in your car in the morning, and before you start your car, you see that your battery is much less then 12 volts, but once it’s running it’s above 13 volts, that would point to a having good alternator, but a weak battery that may be nearing time to be replaced. Likewise, if before you start your car you see around 12 volts, but once it’s running the voltage doesn’t increase up to above 13 volts, it stays at 12 volts, that’s a sign that your alternator isn’t charging. Without a voltmeter, won’t see this important information. Another problem this gauge solves is that when you’re left with a car that won’t turn over, it becomes a guessing game of what to replace. Do you need to buy a new alternator? Or a battery? With a voltmeter gauge you know exactly what your electrical system is doing, and what needs to be replaced.
Also, this gauge measures up to 16 volts. That’s an important feature incase your alternator’s voltage regulator is bad and putting out dangerous amount of voltage that can damage car stereos, ECUs and other electronics in your car - and even cause a fire. Very good thing to have.
One more thing, this gauge is really handy if you’re sitting in your car listening to music, you can see when you are causing a drain on your battery, and when you should start your car and give it a bit of
There is a detailed instruction video, that shows just how easy this is to install. There is not soldering or modifications needed to the cluster. If you can use a screwdriver, this gauge is for you.
This gauge is available to be ordered via paypal - thanks for watching.Last edited by george graves; 05-21-2014, 05:27 AM.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?
