Hi. Pardon my ignorance. Ca you explain what a swirl pot is? Is that like an anti-surge tank?

I have been working for several months on a system that acts as a mini surge tank by recuperating the return fuel from the engine bay into the high pressure pump, to avoid fuel starvation at track events.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

        thank home grown...

yes lee your correct its also called a anti surge tank. the top hose returns fuel from the surge tank to the petrol tank. the second top fuel line is fuel input from my intank fuel pump. the 3rd top fuel line is a fuel inut return form the fuel rail and the bottom fuel line is the fuel output for the big fuel pump.

there is a filter in the tank. The volvo one before the big pump and another one in the engine bay jest before the fuel rail.

Well the engine hasn't lasted too long and the result is this..

                  July 28th the engine died.

                  Back onto jack stands...

once the head was lifted off this was the poor sight that was to be seen.

The block... the sleeve has been pulled down (through the seat and oil squirters and onto the crank

                  And the piston.....

so a new engine was purchased..

                  This time a M52b28
                  August 18th

A customer of the place im doing the work at was having a S50B30 conversion done and had not received a lot of the crucial parts one being the entire EWS set up.
His engine was also down on compression on cylinders 3 and 6. So after a couple of beers the decision was made to swap engines.

So on the 21st i removed the S50 out of the customers E30 and put it on a engine stand and bolted the supercharger up to it..

I then started pulling the S50 down and installed the M52b28 into the customers car

                  S50 pulled down

Found this damage to the bore on cylinder 3

the spacers that go in between the throttle bodies and the head

And now i also have the headers that Matt at the workshop modified for the customer. Im not 100% sure what i going to do with these yet.

Yesterday i took the block up to the machinist to check what size pistons to order. He will be bore the block, be checking the eccentricity of the crank mounting, shave the block mounting surface, finish the cranks conrod mounting surface's and the cranks mounting surfaces. The head is also going to be reconditioned.

I will be ordering the internal parts as soon as he lets me know what size pistons to order.

Very nice. What fuel-timing mangament are you using? Probably detonation occured?

i was using a delco ecu with kalmaker software. the timming chip fried in it.

I am now tossing up between the haltech E11v2 the motec m800 (twice the price) and the dtafast S80pro

The car should hopefully be pretty good.
