I am not a purist by any means... but I have to vote no on that color. Neat color, but I just don't see a stock bodied E30 pulling it off. Now if you had a crazy wide body then you can do any color you want!

While white isn't one of my favorite colors, an orange E30 is just wrong.

And these reponses are all that I needed to shift me back into the correct direction. AlpineWhite II it will remain.

Don't get me wrong, my post was not intended to incite a riot. My coworker has a 1970 cougar convertible that he was having another coworker photoshop new colors. One thing led to another and they all ganged up on me trying to convince me to paint the car orange. the only orange I have even liked was the atomic on vette's...well that and the colorado and inka on 2002's but that's a different story.

I have a very clear vision for what the car will look like. That vision is a white touring car. Occasionally there are distractions which is why it is sometimes necessary to be reminded by others.

I won't regret white...I would probably regret orange. I'm old and like safe choices. :D

I didn't end up getting it. I had an interview and was one of three finalists for the position but it didn't happen for me. I think it had something to do with a small blunder on my criminal record because I felt I was more than qualified. Lesson learned: sleeping drunk in the car is just as illegal as driving.

I have someone willing to photoshop it with my th monos so that may help the wavering that is going on.

              What say you all?
I have to agree with everyone else here. I toyed with the idea of the e36 byzanz orange for my car, but I ended up sticking with the stock color and I'm glad I did.

just noticed that the OBDII throttle body looks like a better design than the OBDI throttle body...a bit cleaner looking i think.

                great progress btw :)

Yeah, I read that thread back in off-topic a while back and thought the whole situation sucked. You recognized you weren't shape to drive yet you still got punished for it. A lot of gray there. Live and learn though. Hopefully the aerospace sector will spin up again soon. Either with a new, big better thing or something. Only thing on the horizon that's major is the tanker deal and who knows where that will go. Clearly I'm siding with Airbus as that will put a factory across the street but defense projects always surprise you. Keep your head up.

I'm laughing right now that my coworkers are upset at my decision to keep the car white. They are under the impression that a bunch of people on the intrawebz that I don't know are more important than their decision. I'm enjoying perpetuating this perception.

Awesome swap thead, subbing. This will help immensely with my current swap... and even a bit with the body work and painting. Thank you for taking the time to document it. Much appreciated by a bunch of us I'm sure.

I'll be posting my own project thread, but due to budgetary constraints... will not progress as fast as yours.

Well, the thread might not be that old but this project has been going on for close to three years. I for one, just want to get back to driving it. It's been off the road since December!

Got the new thermostat and aluminum thermostat housing in the mail today. I might slap that on the engine sometime this week and snap a few pics.

I'm looking forward to seeing the car this weekend. I miss just being able to go out into the garage a look at it. A buddy of mine just got his latest project car, a volvo p1800 so I've been listening to his plans for it. I might have to drive over to his house to look at it and take my mind off my car for a while.

Never works for me... just makes me want to do more work to mine. :)

Well, I am hoping to have mine body work done by the end of this year and have the swap completed and interior stuff done by next spring. But... who knows what will happen between now and then.

Looking forward to your update after you see her this upcoming weekend.

Post some pics of the Volvo--my friend has a seafoam green one and it's a beautiful automobile. Italian styling is soooo much better than Swedish.

If you have an inclination to go with a non-stock color, have you considered a pearl white? I have always loved that color. Cool thing is you can go with a blue or gold tint to it, which will give a MUCH different look depending on which one you choose. I think that could definitely be pulled off by your car!
