i mean it sounds like its spining, which would make it come back fine on a test. it just isnt hitting the fly-wheel.

well if its springing then it would hit the fly wheel. It could be bad starter. hearing noises doesn't mean its working. LOL I would return it and get another one and if that one doesn't work then, go to another place like napa.

spent about 20 min with a wire brush for a drill, still needs to be finished, and actually need to polish it. but it looks much better than it was.
still need ideas, tips, advice, anything to get this damn thing to start!

It looks really good. If you have a problem with parts and they dont look the same, I would order from http://www.pelicanparts.com/. They will have everything you will need to get this beast started. They have all the oem parts.

it looks same its just smaller, the mounts are the same and everything seems to match up the same, just a smaller part. which would be expected after 22 years. isk im just about to pop start it and drive it to a shop to see if they can give any input. but i just dont feel like shelling out a bunch of cash for them to tell me its something simple.

not super hard, just a pain. the real bitch is that there are about a zillion and a half wires that need to be taken of, as well as the same number of lines and tubes. i would drain the fuel tank and drain all the coolent before you go to take it off, otherwise you'll pull a pipe or hose and have crap running all over the place. not hard, just a pita

Ok do you work???? Because Im going to tell you this. Im a g and a half already in my car. And I have had it for 4 months. Having a car like this is going to be a money pit. after you get it running you are going to want to make it faster and handle better and all that lol. Im not trying to scare you. BMWs cost a lot more then hodnda. But these cars are great and you will get hooked on it.

ya i have a job, but not one that is gonna let me go to the shop for every other thing or reorder every part. basicly im just trying to find a way around paying $500 for them to have them gap it or tell me i need to pay another $500 for them to put a new fly-wheel in. and yes i know i am hooked already lol but not a huge amount of money flying around at this point and getting it running asap is the goal of the money i have.

basicly all the money i have is already sunk into this thing and i am just getting pissed that this is starter #2 and it still wont turn over. noted the whole intake manifold is off and there is a bad fuel pump, so not expecting it to run but i just want to know it will work before more money gets sunk into things that aren't need, or if i need to shop it.

well thats good to hear. I would un screw the starter and turn the key and have you buddy look and see what its doing. Then pull the fly wheel of and see if there are any teeth on it. lol.

i can see that there are teeth on it through the hole the starter goes into.

ok so we pulled it out and left it hooked up and turned the key over and it turns out i was right. the starter is spinning but not sliding forward to hit the flywheel
