his is similar but its just a cone with a pipe runnig out of it and it ends up sitting right behind the grill. would this not just end up sucking in a ton of water if it rains?
he was going to do the brake duct version that is mentioned in the thread but seeing as we live in ky and it rains alot he figured the grill would be a better spot. overall my question is this: is this a good idea or should i just put a heat shield on it?

for cold air intake, make sure you don't setup a hot air intake, You have to have some sort of ducting other wise it will just get hotter IAT's than the OEM setup and you will be losing power. just route the hose to the grill, and I've never sucked up water and I check my filter after just about every drive, there isn't enough power to pull the water up a hose. you could setup something like this

just route the hose to the grill

some people take out there high beam and route the hose there. (beware of car washes) you can get crafty with some tupperware and duct hose to make one too. i remember seeing that on a z31 300zx back in the day. you will probably get flamed no matter what you do unless everyone else has it.

i also saw a 318i today. in shit condition! but it needs to be saved before it dies a horrible death in the dealer lot. it has shit paint and a ton of surface rust, and is droped to the ground, kinda worried about it being so low cause the way its riced out they may have just cut the springs... also im kinda worried about buying it tho cause the dealer didn't really seem to know anything! he keep on saying it was fine, everything was great. he even said this after i opened up the trunk and saw that it was about 90% rust! guy was a total dumbass. not to mention a dick. i wana give it a real look over but he was such a dick he like forced us out before we could get any real look at it.
