It's almost sad that it's done, but we also look forward to whatever the next project might be. -

That's always been my thinking; the s52 z3m (~240hp) is really expensive when compared to an m54b30 z3 (~220hp) for pretty close to the same performance. Obviously an s54 z3m (~333hp) is way faster, but insanely more expensive.

I prefer non-M stuff because of the ///M tax, so I’d want a M54B30 Z3, and a N52B30 Z4. Boxsters are all over the place in terms of model variances, not to mention the Porsche tax also... haha can you tell I’m cheap? I think if I were in your shoes I’d nail down a budget, followed by the “must haves” and start looking. With that narrowed down you’d need to drive them and you’ll know which one gives you the joy. There’s also a good resource called “Z3 buyers guide” page and they have good historical data.I've been meaning to ask but didn't want to distract from this thread Simon. If you had a choice between a Z3, Z4, or Porsche Boxster....keeping budget and maintenance in mind, which would you pick? Always been a fan of the styling in the Z3M but those subframe talks have always spooked me out. Leaning towards the Z4 although pricing on those are all over the map. What year and model would you pick? I know very little about the Boxster.
There’s also a huge fundamental difference between the cars being front engine RWD and the mid engine RWD car in both packaging, and feel. You’ll definitely get more bang for the buck on the BMW versus the Porsche
When you buy one, make sure you start a thread lolLeave a comment:

Congrats on the kiddo Simon! You've got some brass balls heading out for a canyon run so soon after coming home, good for you.Leave a comment:

Congratulations on the baby , Simon.
My first kid came home in the 911, now there are 3 car seats in there ! And 3 in the Scout.
I highly recommend getting your baby into your cars. It’s a great bonding experience , at least it was for me.Leave a comment:

As much as I wanted it to be the wagon, it has yet to haul the baby anywhere...Leave a comment:

Good to see any update, glad you got some time to play.
So, important question, what car did the kiddo come home in? Basically, I've always been a little jealous of that bit of personal trivia since my parental units were crypto-hippies and elected to deliver me at home.
Having no kids of my own I can only pass on two interesting ones, my older brother came home in a 1979 Peugeot 504 diesel with a manual, and my nephew came home in a 1999 318ti M-Sport with an S52 swap.Leave a comment:

Progress has slowed down mainly because my baby was born on the 15th. I managed to get some more of the cosmetic work done, went on a canyon run this last weekend and today, I picked up the pièce de résistance.
First, after much sanding and some creative plastic welding I primered the front bumper.
First thing I wanted to plastic-weld up was one of the front plate holes. This was the particularly annoying one that was much easier to weld up as it’s just been screwed directly throw the bumper. The lower two actually have deep threads
Here is the plastic nub poking through

Melted...

...and sanded

Melted it on the inside too so it can’t be poked through

Cracked corner, this was hot glued in the inside...

Hot Glue removed and plastic melted in to hold it together. Ugly but it works

And finally, some before and after paint shots.

My baby was born the next day, so it sat for a while and when the opportunity presented itself I snuck out one Saturday morning to go on a canyon run. My brother picked up the 987.2 Boxster S and joined us. Was great having the group all together. He’s still learning the car so he wasn’t too psyched about me pushing him lol

and finally... I ordered this the day after I won the auction on the car (5/28/20), it didn’t arrive until December and after some registration headaches,it’s now mine and registered to the car.

Hoping I can sneak out to the garage again at times over the next few days and finish painting the front bumper... stay tuned
