Agreed, especially since the car’s original VIN status can easily be verified via NICB.

Don't see why you could not re-body a rust bucket donor = swap the dash and re-produce a door jamb sticker to get the typically checked vin's in order for a title...as long as you were up front with the deal on a potential sale/customer to document the shell swap I don't see why this could not be an option...you can buy full new shells for Camaro's, MG's, Mustang's, Jeeps, etc..Leave a comment:

Thank you gents!!!
A local buddy is moving overseas tomorrow and needed to purge his possessions. He offered me this rust free early henna coupe- I looked at it last week, but we couldn't get a deal made for the whole car. Fast forward a few days and he took some body parts off and sold the rest of the shell to me so it wouldn't get crushed. The car can't be titled again due to a scrap VIN status so I won't be tempted to build it, but man..... it pains me to part something this clean out the rest of the way. Doesn't look henna in the photo for whatever reason, but in person it very much is.

Thanks fellers!!
I built storage racks for 50 27gal totes (each tote holds 4 smaller boxes), and the fam came out and we started putting up shelving and moving stuff in!! hooptie HQ v2 is far more organized with better vertical space utilization. My dad and I spent a day filling all of the voids in the insulation which helped quite a bit more than I expected.

thanks homie- all i need is a back seat and hooptie will be a proper hooptie!!

Insulation is mostly done! I need to close up a few gaps, finish taping, etc, but to have a barn with lights, fans, concrete and insulation feels quite nice considering the blender I was in just a few months ago.
I have blended into a nice, drinkable shake.
Can't thank the homie Casey enough for all of his help on this project.

nice score, it pays to watch the CCA classifieds. congrats!
Lightly used roundel really is a game changer.
Me too. Stoked to get the car on standalone! I won't be able to make it up to Jake's until I'm moved. All in due time!

I didn't want to count my eggs before they hatched (see: getting scammed on a moonroof), but I have been looking for E30M suspension parts for the better part of 7+ years. I've been able to find stuff here and there, but there has always been something missing that wasn't obtainable without buying new or top market used ($$).
mjweimer being the great person that he is, knew I was on the hunt, and was keeping an eye out for off market parts. He found a random CCA ad with a very short description stating to call to inquire about an E30M suspension/brake conversion.
I called, and on the other side of the phone was a very kind older gentleman from upstate NY that had purchased a full E30M suspension conversion for his '84 318 20 years prior and never got around to installing it.
I had to figure out some complicated logistics because he wasn't able to package/ship the stuff, but was willing to drop them off somewhere for that to be done.
FAST FORWARD, the parts were real and are in my possession. Stoke is high.
Included in the kit:
Front Housings w/ Ackerman Arms
Trailing Arms w/ New Bushings
NEW Rear Dust Shields
Rear Hubs
F/R Calipers with Carriers
Rebuilt Steering Rack
Rebuilt P/S Pump
Original Steering Joint
S14 Pump Bracket & Hoses
I'm going to use most of this stuff to convert hoopty over to 5 lug finally, and the rebuilt goods I'll use on the M3. Yeeeeeee

guess who's back
Hooptie is the best e30. I got it back from the fab pals today. The header flange needed to be flattened due to a blowout on the number 6 gasket, added a custom Y pipe to replace the stamped Y, added a vibrant ultra quiet resonator that removed some harsh frequencies, and fixed an exhaust leak downstream. It is now bliss
The fresh 2.7 rips, and the header sounds amazing. You can hear it working. I'm on a stock DME and stock tune and it's noticeably quicker than the last 2.7 with a hot tune. Going to get it on standalone soon and do an a/b of the header vs stock exhaust up at Jakes some time in the coming months. This 2.7 is using the OG hooptie block and pistons, so it must be happy.
But for now, the a/c developed a leak, I need to replace the aux fan, the wiper motor failed all the way finally, I have some alternator noise coming through the speakers, and I got a Sony DSX-GS80 head unit to replace the shit continental. The Sony has a nice built in amp and a much better bluetooth input interface than the continental. Paired with the OEM Hifi premium sound trunk amp delete plug, my audio efforts should soon come to fruition. It doesn't look the part, but that doesn't bug me if it makes the right sounds.
I also have 3 huge boxes coming tomorrow that I am insanely excited about, which says a lot, because I am numb to car part purchase joy otherwise.
I treated her to a fresh roundel that I pulled off of a z3m trunk I gutted. I scrapped 14 rust free E36 sedan doors, and probably 25 E30 doors so far in prep for my move in the past few weeks. No one wants this stuff and it breaks my heart, so I am fully disassembling it all and saving the guts, scrapping the shells. A nice fellow is coming tomorrow to save the six passenger z3 doors and 4 z3m trunk lids I was going to scrap.

Here's a short video from the drivers seat, window rolled halfway down. I am very happy with how it sounds. I still have a 3.46 in the car and it boogies

A while back I took a chance on a set of E30M BC coilovers with ackerman arms in hopes that I could carefully remove/sell the BCs and send the spindles to GC to have them perform their housing service.
Got them back today, and the stoke is high. A taste of what's to come.
