No, they are not giving it out for free, remember your medical care system is socialized. Ours is still for-profit.

Meh. This is not the first time the flu has jumped from birds or swine to humans. It doesn't have a very high kill rate, like the normal flu. Yes, unhealthy people, old people, young people... are at a greater risk of complications just like the normal flu. You should cover your sneeze, wash your hands... just like the normal flu. One of my friend's little sister had it. It was over in three days... just like a normal flu.

It is no longer referred to as "swine flu" but rather H1N1 because of the massive hit the pork industry took and the somewhat inaccurate description.

There's no cold war, the war on terror is played out, Obama isn't saving the world, the recession is old news... the media still has some excess capacity after the 2000 Election and 9/11... so they are playing this up as best they can. I mean, seriously - these are the people playing twitter comments to fill air time.

Actually, it was between 20 and 40 million. The exposure of that was 28% of all Americans and 1/5 of the world, and a mortatility rate of 2.5%. It was a strain carried over from bird species. The world was a lot different back then. We don't have a bunch of young people in wet, cold trenches either.

Symptoms are more numerous than just fever. All your muscles should be aching as if a truck had raped you. Google "swine flue + symptoms". Beware of mass panic syndroms...

My school (university of the arts) is doing a department wide project on the swine flu today. We are the Industrial Design department and my group was given the design challenge of working with greetings and what problems there are to be solved and how to solve them. Discuss. (sorry for the quick explanation, I'm in a meeting... )

My cousin just got over it. So did her son. The doctor prescribed them Theraflu and I guess it worked really well.

Best of luck to those who have it. And oh yeah, stay the fuck away from me!

It's starting to hit our area now. People are all freaked out about it, I find it hilarious. I have a few friends who have it, or who have gotten over it, I would rather have swine flu than the regular kind lol.

High temps, aching muscles, and all around just feeling dead. Sounds better then hugging the toilet and puking your guts out while trying to debate if you're going to take an explosive diarrhea dump all over the bathroom wall because your face is in the toilet. And the rest of the symptoms to boot.

We shall see if I get sick. I'm a pretty unhealthy person, but I rarely ever catch anything, I guess McDonalds, a pack a day, and a few cases of beer a week keeps the doctor away.
