    who finds this disturbing?



    does this picture disturb you? i posted this picture of me with a pigs head up on facebook, and it sparked some very interesting conversation. i wanted to see what conversation i could spark here. i think it is interesting to hear peoples reactions to this picture. i do not think that many of us realize where our meat comes from. sure we know what animals it comes from but do you really stop and think about the fact that the stake at safe way you are about to buy was walking around a few weeks ago? i think the fact that all out meat comes butchered and prepackaged for us today separates us and desensitizes us from the fact that our pork chop was once a happy pig with the inteligance of a 3 year old. this said im not going to stop eating meat cus i love it, but i think people should respect the animals they eat. they did die to feed you and they do taist good!;)

    who finds this picture disturbing, and in ether case why and/or why not? are you a vegetarian or a vegan?

    not at all man thats our job. am a chef too what school did you go too man? well i bet it was good too what did you guys used it for ????

      The finger in the nose is a little gross I suppose? People who would be offended by this are just hacks. Since you are in the industry, have you noticed any affect of the swine flu BS on pork? There is a good sale on at Walmart on tenderloin right now and I have a feeling it has something to do with uneducated people being scared to eat pork due to the hype.

        my , eat whatever you want because its natural. wild animals get killed for food just the same as once that are killed and packaged for us to eat. we just dont hunt our own food because it would not make sense for every family to do that.

          i just finished my second semester at the san francisco city college culinary school. this is a picture of our meat analysis class aka butchery class. we made some killer head cheese out of it and the trotters!!! for those of you who do not know what head cheese is, it is a mixture of a bunch of the meat from the head and the feet with some herbs in a mixture of savery jelly. it is incredible.

          yeah even some of the dumber kids at school make jokes about getting swine flue from meat. but that is not even posible. infact the title of this picture on face book is "jeremy dont get swine flu!!!!!!!!"

            true true. how ever i think that it is important for people to know where there food comes from because it will make people respect the food they are eating and will change eating habits. i have really strong opinions about this as a cook in training. i feel that respect for you ingredients, where they came from, and what work went into getting them leads to quality in your food. you are going to get better vegetables from some one who grows them because they actually care about what they are selling, love what they are doing, and know how much work went into it. same thing with cooks. a cook who respects and loves his ingredients is not going to make shit out of them.

                thats not really food is it??? Its neat looking but how is that a coarse in a meal its 2 bites.

                No offense form me, AS a kid we raised our own steers for the freezer, along with rabbits, and hunted anything that tasted good along with catching most of our own fish. We cleaned and butchered most everything our selves (time permitting) if dad was working too much we would just kill it skin it and hang it, for a few days then take it to the butcher to cut and wrap for us.

                I know where food comes from, its funny that you guys mention that, the little woman has a small meat rabbit business where she sells whole rabbits to a lady that makes all natural dog food. As I understand it, when people come to pick up dog food she will make their batch in font of them. For this reason the G/F has to cut the heads off and and not include them in the bags of carcass's because these people would freak out if it actually looked like a rabbit. But yet we include all the organ meats and the skin much of the time, per the dog food ladies orders.

                    yes it really is food i know it looks to neat looking but thats what i went to school for and my job calls for it too so i have to do it you know. really fresh hair wow thats awesome i love it with pasta try it :p you can go wrong with it what els can she get ????

                            nice work man! i like you deserts but i would have used a different plate.

                            yeah the portions are small. i am not sure of why he made them as small as he did, but there is a theory that if you eat to much of one thing you get used to the taste of it and it is not special any more. you really only ever truly enjoy the first 3-4 bites of food and then your sens of taste gets used to the flavors and you do not register the flavors as much anymore. that is why at a lot of expensive fine dining places you will get some where around 7-8 courses of food made up of small plates of food like his. that way you never get bored of the food.
                            this way of eating doesn't really make sens if you are just trying to fill up though. it is just for enjoyment.
