            UPDATE

So nearly one year after originally posting this.. I have the Scirocco back. Was consistantly in touch with the step-father, and after giving G. months and months to at least step up and talk to me, the step-father eventually asked me if I could get a duplicate title for the car. G never transferred the title to his name, so I applied for a duplicate, got it, and finally went and repo'd the car from storage.

The motor I gave him with the car had been installed, as well as some of the sweet NOS goodies that I had included. The header went missing, but other than that, the car was fairly filthy, and the passenger seat got a little smushed from a heavy box. I tossed on my ATS's and hauled it home.

The car is stupid nice, but sadly, I just don't have time or space for it, so it'll be up for sale again :(

I'm still a bit shocked actually that I was able to get anything back out of this whole ordeal. I still lost $$ to this shithead, but lesson learned. I don't really hold any ill-will toward G, but I'd prefer not to hear from him again. His stepfather was extremely patient and straight-up with me the entire time, and if it wasn't for him, I'd still be hung out to dry.

Well, at least you got the 'rocco back. Don't sell it simply for space; there is always room if you are willing to look and/or squeeze...

If you already owned those wheels, you deserve to keep the car. Don't make this about money now, that car is impeccable and you should definitely not give it up. Glad to hear things worked out better than you expected.

I have a question, his step-father asked if you could get another title to the car so you could go take it back from storage and you did so. However, you said repo'd, was this just clever work choice or did you actually have to go in and repo it? lol

                              Hey buddy.

This is a very, very nice car that you have here. It looks exactly like what the hip Rocco looked like in the late 1980's. The wheels. The paint. The car's period correct, and seems cosmetically in great shape and deserves an older (and richer) owner who will appeciate it. That's basically a concours car. Therefore take your time to finalize the small details. Keep it, or sell it, but don't give it away. That car has some value to the proper crowd. ;-)
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Age/wealth has nothing to do with appreciating a car, or making it "period correct." I built that Scirocco and made it exactly what it is roughly 4 years ago as a broke-ass college student. I regretted selling it at the time, but it didn't fit the rest of the stable of vehicles, and it still doesn't. It's far from a concours quality car, but it is in unusually great shape, and has many NOS goodies that I tracked down for it. It sucks to sell this car again, but in all honesty, I don't see myself as even touching it for at least a year if I kept it.

To answer your question AlpineE30M52; a little bit of both actually. I did in fact, get the duplicate title in my name, but G didn't know when I was coming to get the car back. I arranged a day/time with the stepfather, met him at his storage unit where the car was, and he helped me load the car up with all the crap that came with it. As far as I know, G still doesn't know the car is gone, and probably won't find out for months.
