Didn't read all ten pages and not sure if it has been mentioned but do a google video search of the Isle of Man and there will be tons of old Cafe Racers.

They were the standard before Japanese bikes drove em right to extinction.

              Yeah I noticed. haha

One thing I do not want, is that button on vinyl/leather seat look that is typical of all cafe racers. I really like the bubble/dome rear that is standard on CB's, but I dont wanna pay out the ass for one. Sending PM nao.

Bobmartin, 'scuse the newbie question, but where did you source that rear swing arm assembly? Is it custom fabbed?

The cafe racer is a motorcycle that has been modified for speed and good handling rather than comfort. The Motorcycle is for those who want to hop to a coffee shop for a coffee or to a bar or pub for a beer.

More progress... Hope its ok that I'm posting this shit in here. Im sure you guys dont mind. Its relative to the thread interest at least. :)

Carbs off being rebuilt (again). Chopped that bullshit off the rear. Soooo much better. Triangles being made. Playing with some ideas. Not sure how I feel yet about it. Whadaya think?

According to my finances, I'm about a month out from riding it around (safely).
Currently thinking super hard about ordering this... If I do though, it will add another month to me riding the bike.

I think you should put another cross-member between those shock mounts.

I do like the eBay seat. Nice lines & aluminum will always paint better than plastic does.

Scabzzzz, your bike is looking pretty cool. I've been thinking about picking up a cheap Harley sportster and dropping it down and doing some backyard chopping. It looks like fun, but I need to learn to weld first.

Agreed. And thanks for the tip. I guess I'll go ahead and pick up the hoop bar thing on Dimecity.com and weld it on the back for rigidity. A simple crossmember of 15 gauge steel would be fine enough for now tho right?

Thanks man. This is my second motorbike. Havent ridden in years, really excited. Back roads in Tennessee are amazing for vintage riding from what I hear!
And I saw a Nightster recently, cafe'd out rolling down the road with some fine ass bitch on the back and a dude that looked like me almost. Needless to say, it made me really get the ball rolling

I like it, I like the raw look your going for.

I also like the color of the seat and how it stands out on the bike..

Nice touch on the Triangles with the side vent

any bigger and it would look like your trying too hard.

                            good job so far...

A piece of round stock or pipe would work. A simple piece of flat stock isn't going to resist twisting of compression forces
