it's ridiculous, people come here legally and pay thousands of dollars to obtain permanent residence status and others can just jump across the border with basically no reprecussions at all and are welcomed with open arms into the american work force. Then they are just given us citizenship instead of going through the proper legal channels to obtain it. Pathetic.

The double standard I was talking about is that when the tables are turned and it's a white family being attacked by a group of black teens screaming "This is our world....it's a black world..." and the cops aren't ready to call it a hate crime. First off hate crimes are a bunch of bull shit, how is my life, or anyone's life regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender be anymore important than the next? If stiffer punishment is needed for what they consider a "hate crime," than maybe the punishment should be stiffer for that crime, period. Hate crimes are just another form a racism, and racism is only good for one thing in my opinion, and that's keeping all of us seperated and fighting each other, if we're all fighting and can't get along then we certainly can't stand together and fight what's really wrong with this country. Sorry, I know this wasn't a thread about hate crimes, it was more about racism, I just wanted to show an article about an apparently accepted form of racism had the tables been turned and it was a group of white teens pulling that crap on a black family it would have been all over national news.
