the only time i use usps is when the orders so small i feel guilty chatging 7 or 8 bucks to ship it. usps is right under wayzata amoco and rainbow foods on my list. i had an s14 starter packed to the hilt in a flat rate box and they dropped the fucker on the nose and fucked it up. refused my insurance for "improper packing" . the next day i opened a fedex account (who have also fucked me and im suing presently) and they never get anything but little shit packages from me. i would refund the dude and eat it regardless of what happened.. your reputation is worth a lot more than 100 bucks.

I hear you. I will probably offer a half refund. 60 bucks is a decent price to pay for a lesson I suppose.
blunt - I always wondered how they can offer insurance w/o seeing how things are packaged. UPS refused insurance for me one time on am e30 dash I shipped to east coast because mom/pop UPS STORE didn't package it with me good enough. I went all the way up to HQ, and they couldn't care less. Fedex seems OK though.

Why even bother with insurance? I buy insurance, you lose it and blame it on my packaging. Then I buy insurance, you lose it and blame it on your packaging, and I eat the cost.

The insurance claim is always the responsibility of the shipper not the receiver. When stuff like this happens to me, i always refund the money pretty quickly to the buyer.
That being said, i ALWAYS take a cell picture of how i packed the box, including the inside materials and product, along with the outside of the package with label clearly visible, no matter what.
I have had claims with USPS, FedEx and UPS, all have their faults, FedEx was the easiest to deal with, followed by UPS and then USPS. UPS if you take it to a UPS store and ask them to package it for you, if anything happens to it, no matter what, UPS will refund your money, because they packaged and shipped it. It all comes back to pictures of product shipped in my claims, if you cant prove you packed it well, you cant really claim you did.

Apparently if they package it they can still refuse your claim.
Good call on the picture though. Although I don't know what "proper packaging" entails, I'm sure they could argue whatever you do to a fault.
And with a car looking like yours I imagine the balance shall tip in the favor of insult, like a big fat fucking retarded fucking black girl on a see-saw, opposite... a dwarf.
There was one item I shipped to Canada to Lee that for some reason didn't get there, and since it's international there isn't a tracking number. Personally I issued a full refund, probably didn't have to, but oh well.
That was for the injectors, right? On the buyer's perspective, and as somebody who ships about 15 parcels per week, I feel the shipper is responsible for the shipment. Which means that if I ship a brake kit to anybody, the buyer expects it at his place. If it doesn't reach him, the buyer expect me to take actions. One way or another. Which is why everything I ship is ensured. If there's one parcel that doesn't reach destination, I will refund if customer requires it (and make a claim with USPS) or send another kit right away (and still make a claim).
So, when Jean's injectors never reached me, I expected either another set, or a refund. Wh33lhop, in your customer's perspective, he is entitled to receive what he paid for, and you are responsible to ensure he gets it, or gets a refund. It is up to the shipper to make the claim. Even if the goods are sold at a very low, price, it has nothing to do with the seller's responsibility of making sure the part reaches its destination.
The guy bought parts from you and you didn't deliver. You owe the man a refund.
You knew against your better judgment that there was a risk and decided to take it. You could have spent the extra couple bucks yourself to ensure delivery. Fact is, you both agreed to the same terms, he upheld his full end of the bargain, you did not.
And like Blunt said, morality aside, your reputation is worth more than 100 bucks.

Don't know why everyone has issues with USPS. I've used them tons and never had a problem. Used to work for a company that shipped everything out using only USPS. Several hundred orders a day and never had a problem.
I only use them for smaller packages though. Once you get up in weight/size, UPS is far cheaper. And I only ship things Priority, no First Class or Parcel Post.
