I say its not your fault. Esp if you have gone above and beyond. Just stay in contact with the guy just in case they show up.

I recently shipped a E34 pan UPS. The received it Cracked in half, with the pickup broken off of the pump. Thats just rediculous. It looked as if someone had ran the damn package over. I got a insufficient packaging on my claim. I dont understand how more cardboard could have kept it from cracking in half.
Fortunately ups's insurance company overturned the judgement. now im just waiting on a check

Lucky for me the guy i shipped it to is super awesome and is continuing to work with me on it.

    Best of luck!!!

And like Blunt said, morality aside, your reputation is worth more than 100 bucks.
      +1

both agreed to the terms and the buyer never got his product - this is really a no brainer - it sucks for you as the seller, but reverse this and what would you do.

What if you both agreed to send the money by mail and it got lost and he received the product - you wouldn't still want the money?

      good luck

Loosing $100 sucks, but will make you sleep better at night, and keep your name clean. Live and learn, especially when Murphy's law strikes.

took the words from my mouth.

If you value your name for 100 bucks, go blow it on gas and strippers. If you want to continue your business, work it out with the guy.

There is an understanding, but to save some green might make someone red in the end.

as a seller, you have the right to choose who you ship through, regardless. if buyer doesnt like, they can keep on walking.

From the buyers perspective? The buyer knows I shipped something that weighed 40lbs to NC, and it never got there. Says it all on the tracking number I provided.

I suppose I could have shipped him 40lbs of coal and prayed that he never received it.

The jury's still out here, I'm going to call the post office today and see if the supervisor did anything other than sit on her ass.

Your destinity is in the supervisor's hands. You have a proof it got shipped and never received. Why should the buyer suffer the consequence? Jury has settled. Buyer gave you money and got nothing in return. Time to refund.

Wow...interesting thread. I'm in the same position as your buyer right now. I paid an r3v member for some parts nearly 3 months ago, and requested USPS as all my stuff from BMA Parts comes via USPS (never had a problem), and I still don't have my parts. Apparently this particular shipment ended up being returned to the seller, and he's now re-sent them. Communication from the seller is average so I've had no explanation of why they were returned to him. I'm hoping the parts will arrive soon.

If nothing turns up?...well I hope the guy is at least prepared to negotiate some kind of refund. I wouldn't think it's fair for me to wear the whole cost of a transaction gone bad. I think it'd also depend whether the seller can provide some proof of shipment or not. I'd hope being generally very patient about it all, and not going public with negative feedback, without giving ample opportunity to put it right, would count for something.

Wh33lHop, imagine this: you send me money for a BBK. I ship it. You never receive it. Then I say "Go fuck yourself. No refund. I can prove it was shipped, so it is not under my responsibility anymore..."

                    Hmmm... How would you feel?

That's not exactly the situation here, but that point has been made many times and duly noted.

I'm going to see if I can't still find it.

Please, enlighten us at how the situation differs.

Money sent and received. Part sent but never received.

I think it is the same. That the part sold was $100 or $1000 and shipped thru USPS or UPS makes no difference. USPS lost your goods. Not his. So, it is currently USPS's responsibility to find the missing part, and refund you, unless they can prove it was delivered to the right address.

                          I have an answer!
First let me state this for the record.

THE USPS IS SHIT! My apologies if you work there but my experience with them is horrible. I will NEVER use them again. I have converted completely to online billing because of their shit attitude.

I bought an ECU from a member here. I did not even think about insurance. Now that was my bad.

When the USPS delivered my package it was in a bag with the original USPS box trashed and water damaged. The box was still wet and the ECU was dripping water. OK, shit happens.

I go immediately to the post office and ask what could be done. Here is their professional answer when I told them it was not insured. "you are outta luck!" It must have been funny because the clerks sure got a snicker out of the other clerk's reply.

Now that being said, any other shipper could and have damaged a package. And yes, insure everything with everyone. I wonder if FedEx or UPS might be a little more concerned about customer service.

My problem is I can't accept their shit attitude at my expense. BTW, the ECU is toast.

Now for your answer. I did not go to, nor expect a refund from the seller. I should have used my brain and said ship UPS or Fedex and INSURE.

                          To the buyer beware bro.

                          PS FTUSPS!!!!!!! :hitler:

I say give him a refund. You are responsible for the things you send until the second it reaches the buyer's door. You pay someone else (USPS in this case) to be deliver something on your behalf, but you're still responsible for it reaching the buyer's door. You pay extra to make sure the company you ship with is reputable, and you must trust this company to be responsible with your goods that need to show up at the buyer's door. This company is called UPS.

You need to refund this guy and next time eat the little bit of cost if the buyer refuses to pay extra for UPS.

Have you made a purchase from www.blunttech.com recently?

You need to refund him, or give him a partial refund.
Lesson learned, next time if you ship something and the buyer wants to use a specific carrier, he either eats the cost or he walks. It's not his call, it's your call.

How is the buyer responding btw? pissed?
