Obama voters, do you still feel the way you did when you voted for him or have your feelings and opinions toward him changed?
Nothing can be done in 7 mos, nothing...
but He is off to a good start...
He needs to do a better job fighting the RW Fear-Smear-Claim-Blame Mis/Dis-Information Machine though or he is going to start losing momentum....
If the RW is going to keep playing these games then he needs to fight them with their own tactics like he did when was campaigning...
You have to answer them blow for blow or you will get behind, just like in a fight...
Some people are looking for miracles and that is not going to happen in 7 mos...
My biggest worry is that over the last 12 mos,
we have found out that our "economy" isn't real,,,
it was just a fluffed up portfolio of fluffed up worth...
The jobs that have been lost aren't coming back so what is everyone going to do for employment????...
Obama will be blamed for that but it is not his fault...
Most industry has been outsourced and now we are going to pay the price...
We need the public option on health care and as far as I am concerned,
it should be a single payer,
No one wants to pay taxes but we have to...
You have to have Healthcare, it cost money...
Everyone knows that it can be made cheaper by getting into a larger bargaining pool,
If the Gov't had all the US Citizens, (303,824,640 people) in one bargaining pool,
it would greatly reduce the rates and everyone would have Health Care...
Admin Fees in Gov't HC would be less than 10%,
Admin Fees in Private HC is more than 30%...
that alone would be a 20% savings....
Toothbrush in a store, $5, Toothbrush in a hospital right now $100...get the point???
FWIW, WSJ is owned by the FOXNEWS /Rupert Murdoch, so quoting them as a reliable source is like quoting FOX...it carries very little weight in my opinion...
They are equal to Channel One in Russia, it is basically RW Gov't Media...Comment

Really, then what is all this crap that he has pushed, and congress has passed? That's plenty in my book. Of course, all of it is bad stuff, but still that's doing something.
That's entirely opinion based of course, which is what this thread is about. But see my comment above. Pushing hard to pass extremely questionable legislation just to look like you are "doing something" is simply bad leadership.

The bubble in the economy wasn't real, that is true. We will still have a strong economy once things settle out. Jobs will come back and unemployment will go back way down. If you have skills and work hard, you'll get a job again. Outsourcing is horribly overstated as to its effects on employment. We actually had real issues getting qualified people for jobs before the meltdown with unemployment at near record lows... so low that outsourcing was sometimes mandatory. Outsourcing and shipping jobs overseas is dependent on many factors. One of them is that it is simple, unskilled labor. If those are the only skills you have, yes, you will have trouble finding a job.

It will not be cheaper. There is no way. The government can force doctors to get paid less for what they do for sure. But that's just a downward spiral. You make the invalid assumption that because something costs a lot that it must be unfair or gouging. The reason health care costs a lot is because of
1) Government regulations that force coverage and other baggage that drives costs up
2) Malpractice insurance costs because of frivolous and overblown tort cases.
3) Because it's just bloody expensive if you want the best.
Obama is not aiming at doing anything about tort reform. He is looking to add more hooks and more baggage. So items one and two above are still in full effect and will probably get worse. Item number three will be a mix. Quality will go down, but costs won't, so in essence it will be more expensive for what you get.
Every time we add something like this dumb health care scheme, you give up some of your personal freedoms. The system we have now is not perfect by any means, but I am not willing to give up one more iota of freedom to the government for anything, let alone a horribly flawed health care plan.
You really are into conspiracy theories aren't you? The WSJ is about as neutral as you can get. The reason you think it is a conservative rag is because they use facts and facts always get in the way of the liberal truth.1987 E30 325is

Your whole fucking post is just rigged with brainwashed FOX politics and the whole fucking smear against what Obama is trying to do. You really think your informed when you buy into that bullshit?Comment

lol you think Obama is responsible for the financial meltdown? How about all the shady politics Bush & Dick endulged in during there time in office and how fucked up the national debt became as soon as Bush was backed into a corner by war. You are severely mislead if you think that the financial meltdown, which occured well before Obama took office or even won the election, is anyone's but the Bush Admin's fault because THEY were the ones in charge when this whole shit storm came raining down.

You guys that blame Bush all the time ( even though he was a bad pres ) really look like retards.Comment

Why is it that people like you can't accept that your favorite politician is just that, a politician, and what he is doing is the worst kind of political BS designed to keep the unthinking public happy? Every time your golden boy is implicated in something bad, you just point to your favorite scape goat, Bush, and say, "yeah, well he did bad things". Great stuff. Good arguments. Yep, that'll really get their heads spinning proving to them that you guys have all the right answers. pshaw.
Also, your point is even more stupid because whatever Bush and Cheney were purported to have done by the left wing blogosphere would have had nothing to do whatsoever with the current financial crisis. What Obama did, what Obama voted for, were criminally stupid regulations on mortgages that all banks had to follow. That is what I am referring to. Also, if you could really read you would have understood that I did not lay full blame on Obama, not even close. The vast majority of the blame does lie with congress; Obama was just a willing cog in that game. He was way too junior of a member to do anything but vote. Of course, that was one step up from his normal "present" vote. There was nothing Bush could do to stop this shit (although he tried and was blocked by congress), and there was nothing Obama could do to stop it once he took office. His "stimulus" bill was nothing but a Democrat pork wish list of projects that paid scant lip service to anything worthwhile.
So, keep your faith. As always, you can't argue against faith with logic and facts, so I will just have to leave it with that. Have a nice day.1987 E30 325is

O Hallen, your such a typical RW aren't you...
Attacking me personally and not the topic...
Really, then what is all this crap that he has pushed, and congress has passed?
That's entirely opinion based of course, which is what this thread is about. But see my comment above. Pushing hard to pass extremely questionable legislation just to look like you are "doing something" is simply bad leadership.
I see the conservatives using Obama and democrat grass-roots tactics and getting flat blasted for it by Obama personally.
I see a whole lot of facts out there and a whole lot of unanswered questions that Obama ignores, disdains, or outright lies about. If that is a smear campaign, then you understand that concept different than I do. I see a smear campaign as lies, trumped up charges, and personal attacks. What I see now is a whole lot of people asking questions and not getting straight answers
Just a few BS RW pushes out there right now...
THe Birthers???....these guys should be deported back to Mars....
Gov't Euthanasia boards?
Coverage for illegal aliens???
Free Abortions for everyone??
Just a few of many big lies about Obama HC from the RW....
Obama IS responsible for a lot of this financial meltdown because of his politics as a Senator.
Wake up Hallen...we may need to send you to Mars with the Birthers...
) Government regulations that force coverage and other baggage that drives costs up
2) Malpractice insurance costs because of frivolous and overblown tort cases.
3) Because it's just bloody expensive if you want the best.
Every Doctor in the world wants to work in the US because only US Doctors make the salaries that they do...
Gov't controlled HC would make it very hard to sue, try to sue the gov't and see how far you will get...that alone would drop the cost of HC...
Our HC system is far from the BEST,
we are #50 in the world, the 49 infront of us all have Gov't HC systems....
How come 49 other countries can provide better healthcare than us and
do so cheaper....all provided by the gov't....
Every time we add something like this dumb health care scheme, you give up some of your personal freedoms. The system we have now is not perfect by any means, but I am not willing to give up one more iota of freedom to the government for anything, let alone a horribly flawed health care plan.
What freedoms would you be giving up with Gov't HC?
You really are into conspiracy theories aren't you? The WSJ is about as neutral as you can get. The reason you think it is a conservative rag is because they use facts and facts always get in the way of the liberal truth.
but the WSJ you speak of is the WSJ of old, not the new WSJ influenced by Murdoch and Fox Mentalities....Comment

*sigh*
Don't put words in my mouth. I said the patriot act does not infringe upon your daily life, I didn't say I was in favor of it.
You simply do not understand and I am quite sure you never will. (Mostly because I don't believe anybody could possibly be as stupid as you make yourself out to be in your posts so you are just being a troll)
However, just to give you more to chew on with your nonsensicle rants,
government must restrict freedoms to maintain our security. That's why something like the patriot act is tolerable for a short while (not necessarily in entirety in this case, but still that is where it comes from) We all agree to this so that we can lead our lives the way we want. If and when the government starts taking more and more responsibility for "taking care of us", as in government run health care, by definition, we give up more of our freedom. I understand that you don't see it that way. But it is a fact and it is what is happening. Your choice to not see it that way is not my problem.
If you really want to read a decent piece on this concept, try this http://townhall.com/columnists/Thoma...edom?page=full
You won't understand it because you will be blinded by your rage and you will post back some kind of rant from an extreme left blog trying to imply what I posted is extreme right (which it isn't. It's very mainstream), but you can't refute the facts.
And, besides all of that, the fact that the government has absolutely no idea what they are doing here, have no idea of the consequences of the existing bill, and mostly don't even know what is in it, those should be enough clues to know that this health care agenda is bad. And it is an agenda. It isn't about making things better for you and me. It is about winning votes. It is about the democrat's mentality that we Americans cannot take care of ourselves without their help. It is about big government. If you are in favor of big government, crippling taxes, stifled economies, reduced innovation, and the death of the American way, then continue to support your golden boy. He'll take you there and I am sure you will feel all warm and fuzzy about it the whole way.1987 E30 325is
