The only problem I have with Taxes is the Government spends much of our money on bullshit.
This year my 12 year old daughter is going into Jr High and we're having to pay for the fucking books. Like we're not already taxed enough.

My mistake. It's a deposite on the books....and you pay for materials for extra activities like sports and art.
Which I still feel is horse shit. It's a way for them to cut back.

Yes but keep in mind that theft means different things depending on how you look at it. Stealing from a little old lady to buy drugs is bad. Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor (like Robin Hood) is good.

Ha! Did you really just say that? I think you're confusing capitalism with socialism and/or communism, both of which revolve around taking from one to give to another for the 'greater good'.

I have no problem paying taxes, and I never said I did. However, when money or any other item is taken from one and given to another via cash, goods, services, etc. that is the very definition of theft, and I do have a problem with that.

This thread is pointless? Is that because you don't agree with it? That would be my guess.

I'm not surprised at all. Portland Public Schools gets $10,000 per student and still can't provide a decent education, yet private schools do it for half that! School choice is bad though, unless of course you're really interested in giving children the best education possible.

I believe there's only one definition for theft. That one definition fits what you're advocating. It's cut and dry, as sure as the sky is blue. You cannot change the definition of a word to suit your ideals.

This is the fundamental flaw in your thinking that you keep overlooking; money is a very strong, and in most case the strongest, incentive for humans to act one way or another. It's not because humans are evil, it's our nature to want, and currency gives us the ability to get those things we want. This is why the constitution is so revolutionary, it's based on human nature, and applies restrictions accordingly. Why do you think Communism doesn't work? It's because of human nature. Yes, there are far more important things, but those things do not create the necessary incentive for people. Would you go to work if you didn't get paid? What if your job was helping sick children? Would you sell your e30 to buy food for your neighbor if he or she were starving? How about a fellow e30 owner? At some point you're going to choose a material possession or money over that compassion you hold in such high regard. Know how I know this? Because you already have. I guess deep down you're one of those greedy capitalists too.

You are a retard. Those stories are only fun in movies and legends. What you're saying is that socialism is a good thing. Well, instead of Robin Hood allow US Government do that for you. They seem to find the most ridiculous ways of spreading wealth.

Again, putting foot in your mouth. Quit life.

Also, I have another question in this thread: What is without consent? Passing something to others or acquisition in the first place? Because in case of taxes, people are paying them willingly. Most people live in fear of IRS and pay taxes willingly. Through all that people didn't vote for the only guy, who said that IRS was a bullshit agency. If you're having difficulty with it now, shouldn't have voted republican either.

For the idiots calling taxes theft.
Don't drive on our public roads, go to our public schools, use medicare or medicaid, use our currency, our water systems.

Go drive around on some dirt paths, you're already retarded, you can trade with chickens, and brew beer for all of your hydration because your pond water you have isn't fit for drinking.

                    Fucking get real.

Great question. This thread is more about redistribution of assets than taxes in general. Some would argue taxes themselves are theft, but I don't believe that. People don't have to pay taxes, but they risk jail time; that is their choice. Paying taxes is part of the social contract between the people and their government. I believe taxes are absolutely necessary for the government to function and carry out the duties laid out in the Constitution. The problem I have, and I believe most who voted Yes would agree with me, is what the government spends the taxes on once they're raised.

These government funded and/or government-run programs of taking from one to help another without consent are a fairly new concept, and almost all of them have been catastrophic failures. When a government program fails to perform as expected, it's ALWAYS about lack of money, or so we're told, right? When was the last time you heard different?

Taxes aren't bad. We need them to keep this country running. Public roads, firemen, policemen, teachers, etc. However, when it comes down to taxing me for random worthless shit and having the money poured down the drain, that is when I have a problem. It's ridiculous that some people need to pay for books for a public school education.

Stealing is stealing. No ifs ands or buts about it. It doesn't matter who it is from, or who it is going to, it is still stealing regardless and it is wrong.

I could care less about my neighbors' health. I don't even know half of them. My money is my money, and I'll do with it how I please. If there is someone I know personally and is a good friend, I would be more than willing to give some to help out, but don't force me to give money to some bumblefuck who can't manage his own finances.

Compassion is a good thing. It's too bad that compassion these days rarely goes to a worthy cause. Give $5 to a bum, and what does he do? He buys a 40.

When people are leeching off unemployment, using financial aid when their drug purchasing habits are what keeps them in the need for aid, etc..., it's hard to have compassion and give to these folks.

Funny, in a court of law its called Larceny, or knowingly taking from someone else, a piece of tangible property.

When the gov't does it, its just taxation and business as usual. Obama promised no tax raise for anyone under $250k, and he is about to have to eat his words for all these checks he is signing with his mouth.
