One of them was a commencement speech, which is hardly in the same category as what Obama is doing.
I have no problem with him doing a television campaign to kids to show them the importance of education, don't get me wrong, but when he tries to input his parties ideals and views onto the kids, that's when he crosses the line.
The other Presidents never did that, they said their stuff, and they were done, but Obama is making them do group lessons or whatever it is the classes have to do before and after watching it, which is wrong.

Yes, to shove push this on this years freshman class, with all the lesson plans that were to go with the said speech, is really kinda shady to get more voters just coming of voting age in 2012. This coupled with the pushing of these agendas in the the elementary school kids, and get em brainwashed early is deplorable on both counts.

I would keep my kids home period other that high school aged, all this said if I ever have kids they are getting home schooled.

It seems to me that all he is doing is encouraging kids to succeed academically. On par with GHWB encouraging kids to stay off of drugs. I don't see the problem with either of them.

As far as the lesson plans; this is nothing new. You should know your curriculum has always been pre-determined by your government at all levels. From your local board of education deciding which books are suitable for your library, to the federal Department of Education deciding how many hours of P.E. you need. This should hardly be an issue for anyone with a public education. I'm assuming you have a public education when I say that though.

The best part is, it's not mandatory! Homeschooling is just as good if not better than the public system. Again, I don't see the issues here.

Finally, the only agenda pushing I can see coming from this would be for more funding in schools, which is already a long standing Democrat position anyways. But I don't see any educations bills on the table right now, so I really feel like this may just be a glorified public service announcement. Who knows maybe he saw your thread about his approval rating.

Sorry my mom is a 6th and 8th grades science teacher, and refuses to push the GREEN and Climate change Political agenda spin that the state and districts are pushing them to, she teaches the science of it only, and is only theory and still not fact.

Yeah that is completely understandable. If I was a teacher I would find it hard to preach about something I didn't believe in, but they should still leave the debate open.

One of my favorite classes recently was an astronomy class taught by a geologist (lol). He was clearly against the thought of global warming caused by humans. Though, he was always civil about it and never got into any heated arguments. He would just casually lay out his evidence based on his 30+ years experience and a few select studies he was fond of. He never said anyone who disagreed with him was wrong, and he made sure to always explain the science of the counter argument to us. Good teacher.

Some people take it a little too far though. The Dean of Athletics at our local community college was almost fired for telling his students he would fail them if they were voting for Obama. True story.
