I have a friend with an MGB with the Rover/Buick AL V-8 swap, it's pretty impressive, but that V-6 swap is really over the top. Only real problem with the V-6 is it sounds like a bucket of shit, really. Performance is outstanding.

I agree. Most v6's sound like crap because most people don't know the right exhaust. Hard to get rid of the rasp unless they stay single tip muffler, true duals, or the correct combinations. That MGb has cheapie mufflers, I also didn't like the sound so much.

You really can't quite get the same sounds you can from, let's say, a straight 6 :p, 60 degree v12, 90 degree v8, odd-fire 90 degree v6, or boxer, but all of those (except the 90 degree v6) are naturally balanced firing patterns. The 60 degree V6 is the closest thing you will get to an inline for neutral vibrations, but have a wider variety of packaging options for donor vehicles (like most of today's more common FWD's, yuck!).

Nice thing about the 3x00's is the weight. Fully dressed 3500 (has cross bolted mains, forged crank/rods, and roller cam setup) is 340lbs on the nose. The SBC weighs over 300lbs more, and I still get flack for having a v6 in my fbody, even if the fastest and most powerful 3rd gen was the v6 turbo :(

Yup, that's him lol. Looks like the headers may end up back in my possession for a bit if the buyer isn't just a trash-talker. It was a one-off deal, but people are constatnly contacting me to make more kits since it will also work in the Chevy Beretta.

Too bad the latest 3800 Camaro guy ran into problems (same car as the last link I gave), he has a 67mm BB custom turbo going on, we got him a 38% gain in head/manifold flow and designed him a custom cam. Got shafted from Manley Valves, they made them wrong and they caught it right before buttoning the engine up, had to not only give him a refund for the valves, but footed the bill for new gaskets etc :( He ran an 11 flat last year with a smaller turbo, stock heads and mild cam, really wanted to see a single digit timeslip with my decals taking up the 1/4 panels, but the snow hit fast this year...

3.4 V6 is actually the most popular swap in MGB's. There are a few different companies that make kits that make them bolt with no modification.

Yup. We work with TCE and British Car Conversions :)

Well, the 3800 was mentioned again, but no plug this time :(

It's been talked about around here. Very tempting to have a motor as short as the s14, weighs 300lbs wet, 3.4-3.9 displacement, super cylinder heads. We have gotten over 300bhp N/A and 470whp boosted. The motor would be way back in the chassis and have a low center of gravity with it's pushrod design.
