What kind of scam is this?

My 1600 sold on ebay to a guy in Georgia (the country). I told him no international buyers - but he bought it anyways. Long story short - I sent him an email that said one way or another I'm going to have cash in my hand before the car gets on a truck. I leave my # and he calls me immediately. He offers to wire me the money but I say paypal is best. He says no problem - but all transactions over $1500 take about a week to clear. I tell him no problem - but the car isn't getting on a truck until I have money in my hand. He agrees and says he'll pay tomorrow. I don't feel right about this but I don't see his angle. Opinions?

The guy has called me 3 times to make sure all of the parts I mentioned are in the trunk.

Has he requested anything special to be placed in the trunk?

He looked at my other ebay items and asked for a package deal. I'm going to throw in season 9 of friends, a decorative plate from the Salvador Dali museum and some used college books.

                      I don't own a bicycle?

So what are you going to change your user name to now, Turf1600?

To quote all 4 of my Russian employees: "Georgians....they are mmmmmmmmmm how you say? Crazy!!"

What are the chances he needs all the other stuff from your other auctions? I think you are wise for being very careful.

Strange things do happen. A friend of mine recently sold an old Yamaha Radian to a guy in Finland. He was sure it was a scam of some sort but sure enough the money showed up and the guy got in touch with him to setup and pay for all the shipping arrangements. Sounds like you have your bases covered as far as getting the money in your hands first so I wouldn't be too worried. But wise man once say...
