Ugh when it rains it pours...

My brother just came home, with our dog covered in blood. Apparently he was walking our dog and the neighbor's pit was out, it charges the two of them and a fight ensues. Apparently this thing grabbed Jewel's head ripped a chunk off the top of it, and her neck's bleeding a bit. The other dog on the other hand isn't fairing as well, my brother said Jewel latched onto it's throat. I don't know how hard she grabbed on, but if you have a rope, once she latches on you can swing her around.

We thought it was alot worse than it is, we ended up washing her and it appears that the cuts on her face and neck are small, the one on her head is about half an inch wide but isn't bleeding much.

    Jeezus christ what a weekend

Yeah she's normally really sweet, although she cost us two vet bills this weekend. For all I know she could have killed this other dog. It's funny because she's normally a really big waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles, the last fight she got in was with our neighbor's cancer patient black lab, jewel got her ass whipped.

i bet you that your dog stepped between your brother and the other dog.

Dogs and cats, or any domestic animal that interacts with humans are VERY protective of their families.

My american bulldog WILL, and always will, be between me and my fiance and any neighbor or visitor. he always has to.

              Good luck

O that other dog is a a pain in the ass. Don't get me wrong I hope the things alright, but the thing is aggressive as hell and they keep it outside pretty much 24/7 with one of those electric fences. The line for the fence is right at the edge of the yard. Apparently the thing came barreling down the yard barking like crazy charging them. My dog stepped to it when it saw it charge, and it looks like she did a pretty good job protecting my brother. Problem is she ran on to the neighbors property.

i hear you, i got a staffordshire pit. the only thing i've ever SEEN it try to kill was a ferret. and it wants to eat the mice in the pet store. whenever we're near a pet store he does this high pitched whine, it's very odd. although my pit did somehow catch a bunny and kill it. it never attacked any dog/cat. i have the pit, sheltie, and a cat. the cat plays with the dog and whenever the cat takes it too far and claw the pit, he just pins the cat down but doesnt bite it. but if someone were to go near my mom in the wrong way im sure he would do something about it. he's a pansy, but that's how we raised him. he was dumped in the Giant grocery store parking lot at around 4months old. step dads tenant found him, called us and we got him and raised him since then. hes probably 4-5 years old now. as stated before we raised him to not attack any other animals in a bad way such as throat biting, or biting in general. if you come in the door he will charge at you and just try to lick you to death. you could seriously smack him around and all he would do is stand there. he's also 85 pounds.

on a side note, hope the dog is alright.

lol mine does the same high pitched whine. There's this neighbor dog that just kinda wanders around, every time the dog comes within 500 feet of our house she goes nuts making that noise. We let her out and she goes ape shit, just running around the dog making that noise. There's a feral Siamese cat that my mom feeds (actually she had 3 kittens, mine, one identical to mine, and a grey one, we gave the other 2 away), we're pretty sure someone dumped it because she looks well kept, and you don't really see Siamese cat's wandering around. Anyway one day we hear jewel making that noise running around all excited, she jumps on our couch looks out the bay window intently, we stare for a few seconds and notice that cat in the yard across the street, a good 300 feet away. I don't know if it's the sense of smell or hearing, whatever it is it's intense. She's retarded though, she tries to play with deer, squirrels, cats, really anything. She has nipped 1 person on her pant leg, a girl I dated who was deathly afraid of dogs and grabbed me when jewel barked. Other than that she's been fine, even with my old cat who used to beat the shit out of her, the most she did was put the cats neck in her mouth kind of pinning him with her mouth, she didn't apply pressure or anything I guess just trying to let him know she could easily kill him. I really don't understand the negative connotation behind them, people assume because of their breed that they're viscous. I had a husky that ate one of my cats heads, a german shepard that ripped my neighbors shitzu in half and bit a shit ton of people, my next door neighbor's akida used to bite me atleast once a month, that same dog came home with a peacock in it's mouth one time (the guy that lived behind them had a koi pond and a bunch of peacocks). The worst my pit's done was step on my cat. I mean really how are you afraid of a dog that cries if you don't let her under the covers.

you just described my pit. my mom is terrified of bigger dogs. she was terrified of the pit when my step dad brought it home. after he was home for a week my mom fell in love with the pit. we sent him away for training to learn how to be obedient. sit, stay, heel, all that. he came home and was the same dog but listened a lot better. when you have food he rests his head on your lap and just gives you the puppy dog eyes. the sheltie, she's no better, she is the cutest medium sized dog. if you were to break into my house you should be more afraid of the sheltie. her K9s (pointy fang teeth) are bigger than the pit's and will not hesitate to bite you if she doesnt know you. if you're near her and you clap or knock on something, she will go ape shit and start snapping at you. she can't help it though, she's schitzo-phrenic, she has epileptic seizures. she pants really bad, and tries to hide behind everything/get in tight areas. the last seizure she had the other day she messed up her hind leg, we may have to take her to get surgery, and the surgery is a high risk of her being paralyzed. everyone of our dogs has never just died, they all lived passed their limits and lived so long they had to be put down because of age. if it meant making the dogs life better by say buying a 100 dollar can of food a day, my mom would, and she has no money. my step dad, he probably would. maybe thats why, they get royalty in my house. if the dog wants to sit where you are, you will be told to get the fuck up. but usually the dogs just sit next to you with his head resting on you.

the whole thing about states trying to ban pitbulls is so over dramatic. if you raise the pit to be vicious, yeah it will be a pure blood seeker. if you raise it to be a sweetheart and treat it right, it will be that sweetheart. my step dad swore that if anyone came (such as a cop or some shit) to take the pit away (if the pit banning were to happen in PA) he'd go to jail for murder. and i know he's serious.

The dog hits the cat with a paw and the cat collapses. My parents rushed off to the vet which is unfortunately about half an hour away. When they left the cat was breathing but it sounded like her airway was constricted. My dad picked her up, she was what sounded like purring but it seemed like she was struggling.

So I guess what I'm asking is if her neck is broken would she be able to breath, or instantly die? I'm anxiously waiting info from my parents.

Actually someone who's symptoms are that related to Dyspnea, only have two hours for improvement. If he/she does not get any better, they will need intensive care ASAP!

I think she's retarded. We've been affectionately calling her special K, and downie. She stays awake but she'll just sit in one place for hours. She used to be really playful, would constantly run around climb up on your shoulders and shit. not anymore. Also sometimes when she jumps off of couches sometimes she just kinda walks off them and falls, kitten mittens style. Thanks threetwenty I knew there had to be someone on here that knew a thing or two about disorders. She was brought to a vet well within 2 hours, but that's not saying that the constriction was relieved. The vet just kinda said eh, she got the wind knocked out of her.

Oh and the neighbor dog is alright, mine has an infection. She's on antibiotics, sure she'll be fine, we verified the other dogs vaccines. She's not eating and just kinda lies around all day. So I have two comatose pets.
