Low 20's but be sure to have enough $ in reserve to do al the "deferred maint" of which there was much with my car. I've got another 8 in repairs, tires, etc which is still not bad considered what you'll end up with. Can't even buy a new Prius for that kind of money and when this thing is up near 7000 RPM, it does not sound like a Prius either.

I just learned something I didn't know about the 917 engine. The output power is taken off the center of the crank by gear drive, to avoid crankshaft flex. The crank gear has 30 straight-cut teeth and the "drive shaft" (very bottom rear of the engine in this pic) gear has 31, so no wear pattern could develop.

A small plate at the end of the "drive shaft" is where the clutch / flywheel attaches.

Polished titanium connecting rods are cool.

^ Also drives the accessories. If you're looking for a great read on the 917, I recommend Porsche 917: The Winning Formula. The price looks pretty steep though. Glad I got my copy a while ago.

dumb question. I have a 1984 911 Carrera. But if i were to refer to it by chassis, isnt it a 930? Or no? Someone said it wasnt, so now i need to be schooled

930 is specific to torsion bar turbo cars. Your car is a 911.

The 930 (turbo) chassis is physically different than a standard 911 in addition to different components like brakes, tie rods, trailing arms, transmission, engine, wheels, bodywork, etc.
