I didn't say that. My original point is that they are downplaying the fact that he is a religious extremist, for no other reason than that the religion in question is Islam. If he was a Christian nutjob, then this would have been mentioned on equal footing with all of the other facts. This is why I disagree with your post that this doesn't have anything to do with Islam vs Christianity - it most definitely does.

I'm not a Christian, I toe the line between atheism and agnosticism. That gives me the freedom from beliefs to be able to see the clear double standard. It's the same way when a murderer is identified as black, it's profiling and racism. When a murderer is identified as white, it's a crazy fucking redneck. You don't have to be sensitive to one group through overcompensation by shitting on another one. Equality should be just that.

It's nothing specific to Islam or Christianity. Pretty much every religion has nutjobs waiting to kill in "god's name" and plenty of examples exist from all major religions. Christianity has more than it's fair share of loons too. Extremism is to be denounced no matter what the angle is.

My understanding is that the perpetrator who was taken down was a military shrink. A well educated doctor. And when looking at terrorist acts made on US soil, most were done by good ol' American boys, including Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma City, who incidentaly was in the army too... Let's not forget that there's a big anti-governement movement in the US.
