^^^i have a miata modded up, I hated it, sooooo slow. Stock ss2 celica is quicker out the box for like 19k used, beastly starter car, moves really well for being what it is. Ft-86 you get for beating the rwd class makes the miata worth suffering though hahaha, drives awesome modded

driving force gt wheel, the official gran turismo wheel, same one the gt academy competition will be using, not the best available probably, but fantastic for the price. That plus spare bride pro seat in livingroom = couch racer maximum lol.

Has anyone else beaten gt championship yet? So mu,h racing seat time in the past day, thank god this bride fixed bacl ia pretty comfy.. Though I do have aome sport seats I could use in its place! Lol

On a sad not, my countachs engine rebuild amd chassis refresh was a whopping 200,00 credits about, holy hell! Made it all the way to gt championship with only street tires though thanks to the gt force feedback wheel being awesome! Slapped on race slicls soft and my lap times got crazy quick, great training using street tires on squirly cars and pushing their limits.

        all relative, i guess...

it cost less than my ITB setup did, and only a little over 2x the fine on the speeding ticket i got in may (first one i've had in 6 years, so pro-rate that however you want).

given that i'm never going to get pulled over flogging a car in my living room, the cost*risk:fun ratio is pretty good.

and now, i'm home from thanksgiving with the family, and the girlfriend is working all of black friday at her retail job... seeing as i've only messed with arcade mode for an hour so far, it's time to load up the pre-order & collectors-edition cars and get to work :D

          first impressions:

          - i'm wondering what made you guys go with the miata over the ae86? the toyota has the same peak power, is lighter, and cost less (from the cars i had to choose from at lvl0 @ the used dealership, anyway).

          - i'm running with all the driving aids turned off (because, well, the ae86 didn't have any) and WOW the braking is way different from GT4 using the logitech g25 setup... i realize this is a good thing, because it used to be that no matter what you were driving, 100% pedal pressure ='d 100% effective braking power... now, with a bone-stock used car (oil change only), stomping the brake at the latest possible point has you locking up and sliding off the corner exit... which is, of course, as it should be, and a glaring omission from the prior games. given that my real-life car has slightly more brake than it has tire, this is good training for me.

          - having learned the above lesson and gone through the clubman series (now 3 for 4: won the first and last races on the first try and learnt my lesson on grand valley), i'll say there is a nice bump in realism over the prior game, and over gt5:prologue.

Used car lists vary. My starting car was an ss2 celica, aka most recent ones
Never rocked one before but it worked great and stomped the competition in newb races

i figured as much, which is why i mentioned "what i had to choose from". guess i was lucky to have the ae86 available, because i kicked ass with it- 4sec per lap up, bone stock. too easy. even easier with sport-soft tires, stg1 weight reduction, and the diff upgrade.

the gf is calling me to bed, and poon > video games...

but i will say that even with this little experience, you should all get a logitech wheel (or something better, if you're a genius-level EE like JamesC and can figure out how to make your rig talk to a PS3. i'm not).

i got impatient and bought need for speed : hot pursuit as a tide-me-over the day before the new release date was announced, and when it didn't support the logitech wheel i was pissed. after a few days of being bitter, i gave in and played for a few days on the controller.

now that gt5 is here... well, would anyone like to buy a copy of NFS:HP? cuz i'm not playing it again. this shit is way too much fun.

I'll be gettin that g25 soon, I've been wanting one for so damn long. I really want the 25 over the 27 as the shifter has sequential and h pattern on the 25. But the damn thing is just as expensive as the 27 new. And it's damn hard to find also.

Yeah my z4 m hauls ass so bad. I can drift that bitch pretty good on a controller. Level 12 already and like 200,000 credits. I really hope our racing series uses something better than a z4 though. Hmmmm oh and the e90 m3 is kinda bad?

                        I've got the Veyron.

Not officially, just a GT PSP transfer car. I can only use it in arcade mode (which is good, because it would break the game otherwise).

I picked the MR2 spyder as my first car - more power than the miata and a better (imho) drivetrain. I'm now running a DC2 integra around the FF only courses.

But I spent most of my time working on licenese tests. For those who don't know, GT always rewards you heavily for getting all golds in a license. Takes an hour or so for the B license.

                          GT5 Setup:

My buddy made me a seat mount and a Momo adapter for my G25, and said he was going to bring over his 50" plasma to play it. He then decided bringing the plasma was too much work, so he bought a 55" LCD.

The cinder block TV stand setup is epic. Currently my spare M3 driver's seat is sitting on the floor. I need to build a mount!

It's redneck-modular. I wasn't sure how tall it needed to be. Damn sturdy, though! I got on top of it (170lb) and it didn't have any issues.

I'll be quite honest I think this game is going on craigslist a little later today. The car list fucking blows, the game isn't that awesome in general. The graphics are fucking hideous. I've never seen a game with so much hype look so damn ugly. I have all these credits yet I have been looking to buy a car for 20 minutes and cant pick one cause they all suck ass.

Forza 3 was much funner IMO they had cars I wanted to drive. ALL WITH INTERIOR VIEW.
