Any Verizon users pick up the new Droid?

Just picked up a pair of Motorola's tonight. 1 for me and for the little woman. So far love it even though I have wanted to chuck it a couple of times trying to get used to a smart phone and touch screen, comming from a standard phone.

im low on pixel knowledge but i got my gmail contacts synched. can i bring this fucker to a baggypants at a verizon kiosk and he will transfer phone numbers from my old phone into my droid? or do i have to enter them by hand?

A baggy pants can do that for you, they did mine before I left the store with it. All the data from my old phone pics and all.

Or you can just enter all the numbers and contact into you Gmail account and it will put them in the phone book as well. Its faster to do it through the Gmail than by hand on the phone. But I would go the baggypants route 1st.

Unless you want a decent data network. Sadly the only offering is CDMA so Sprint/Verizon. That and I dont want a hacked phone. Not only is the iphone the most vulnerable phone platform so far with respect to a trojan but rooting the damn thing just makes it worse.

I ended up picking up the Sprint Hero. I stuck with Sprint because I get two unlimited lines for $110. It would have been double that with anyone else. So far I am loving Android, its probably 99% the iphone (with multitasking).

With respect to GPS, that sucks that Verizons isnt working. What application are you using? I know verizon has their own but for Android 2.0 devices there should be the google maps one, you just have to make sure and turn on the actual GPS to make it accurate.

Changing the default root password is easy, as is JB'ing the phone.

Why would anyone not want to hack their phone, especially with all the great 3rd party apps out there as well as all the hacked, free Apple apps such as NBA League Pass.

And I can multi-task using the "Backgrounding" app.

As for the Data Network, I use the "3G Unrestrictor" app.
I can watch NBA League Pass on 3G without any pixelation/freezing or any other problems.
I'm watching the Lakers/Bucks right now on my iPhone.

Also, ATT is in the process of rolling out 7.2 MBPS nationwide:

i may sound nitpicky, but 7.2 MEGAbits per second is way fucking different than 7.2 MEGABytes per second. In perspective, 21 megabits per second is roughly 2 megabytes per second.

Its also a theoretical speed. Right now you dont get their current promised 3G speeds anywhere, let alone getting the realistic 3G speeds everywhere.

That is why every commercial needs that little asterix under it.

Yeah, I realize that the speeds will be advertised as "up to 7.2MBPS" and not everyone will be getting that type of bandwidth.

Regardless, ATT is upgrading their network to be faster.

Besides, I use 3G Unrestrictor on my iPhone and currently get about 1.2 MBPS D/L speed on 3G, depending on where I am at the time.

And as much as I despise Macs and O/S X, the iPhone does kick ass.
Especially when Jailbroken.

Wow, Im averaging 2.4 in Atlanta and even got around 1.8 in Lawrence, KS. This is on Sprint, the supposed "slow" network.
