    Bugatti Veyron goes swimming

Man distracted by bird drives Bugatti into marsh

Thu Nov 12, 9:34 pm ET
LA MARQUE, Texas – A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston. The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.

The Lufkin, Texas, man told of driving his luxury, French-built Bugatti Veyron when the bird distracted him, said La Marque police Lt. Greg Gilchrist. The motorist dropped his cell phone, reached to pick it up and veered off the road and into the salt marsh. The car was half-submerged in the brine about 20 feet from the road when police arrived.

Gilchrist said he doesn't know if the car was salvageable, but in his words, "Salt water isn't good for anything." He says the man, whose identity hasn't been released, was not injured.

A 2006 Bugatti Veyron was recently offered for sale in Jonesboro, Ark., for $1.25 million

Hmm stop and pick up the phone next time, takes what total of maybe 12 seconds total in a Veyron, they do bend light right?

I can't imagine trying to use a cell phone while driving a $1M car.

I think they will be able to salvage the car. The parts are so valuable, they will probably disassemble almost the entire thing, clean everything, and rebuild it.

One more reason to ban cell phones from cars. Save the Veyrons...
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Why doesn't a car that is that much money have a built in blue tooth system that shuts off the stereo and work on a basic mic/speaker system?

I searched for "Bugatti" and "Veyron", got nothing. That thread used the word "Veyrons" instead of Veyron". Does our search engine really not pick out parts of words?

No wonder there are so many reposts.

Yeah I did the same thing. I was thinking "I swear I saw this posted before" but I couldn't find it. The only way I found it is because I remembered daniel posted in that thread.

                        Shitty search engine though.

Because you shouldn't be on the phone while driving a car with 1000HP?

I think it was jemermy clarkson who once said, if your looking to sip tea and talk on your phone while driving, your lookin for the wrong car. It wasn't in regard to a veyron, but it obvioulsy holds true here as well. It's really not a car that you can risk even bumper taping somone in
