I agree with you to a certain extent, some beings out there are supposedly capable of performing these things. I think most peoples misconceptions with extraterrestrial life is that if they are indeed advanced, then we simply cannot think of them with our means, as in we cannot measure them with our standards. If their technology is even slightly better than ours, then to us it appears like magic, because it is outside our comprehension and that is how we should be viewing them. To certain points stated above, sure we have only been sending radio waves for a short time, and at the rate those waves travel no one will have received them yet, but, if their technology is superior, then it would be a moot point anyhow as they have probably known about us for quite a long time without us knowing.

It most certainly isn't a moot point unless you get into the topic of faster than light travel or wormholes.. Even with vastly superior technology they would be governed by the laws of physics, it takes an enormous leap of faith to dismiss those boundaries and claim that technology can work contrary to those laws when everything we know about them says they cannot be broken.

ck_taft325is I suggest you read up on Sumarian history. I'm not saying all that's speculated is done so in truth, but it is extremely interesting and some very intelligent and qualified individuals wouldn't be so quick to dismiss your friends belief.

I also think it is possible that aliens had something to do with our uniquely high intelligence compared to every other animal on this planet. Erich von Daniken has some pretty interesting points on this subject.

Another theory that I could see being true is that those "aliens" that visit and study Earth nowadays are humans from the future. Some people say that the proof that time traveling will never become reality is the lack of visitors from the future. What if they are just trying to visit secretly? Nobody wants to mess with the space time continuum, right?:)

I don't dismiss them ;) I just don't really care, honestly. The fact that he's a paranoid schizophrenic and the mental disability that he's associated with has a tendency to believe, easily, these suppositions.

If he is obsessed with the idea of Aliens and his every day actions are dictated by these beliefs, then he is crazy. But if he just has a loose belief that humans could have originated elsewhere in the universe, I wouldn't call that crazy. The idea that life originated elsewhere in the universe is very plausible and is actually respected within the scientific community.

Something which is less respected but still plausible I think is that the divine beings in the Bible could have been from other planets rather than from heaven. Chariots of the Gods anyone?
