There is no way we are the only ones out there. So much space! Someday it will be all just common knowledge but that hard proof has to come first. I know most of the people who originally posted are no longer monitoring this thread but I had to comment on one thing that drives me insane. All those who immediately equate UFO to alien, that's not what a UFO is. It is simply your observation of something of unknown origin, and is not even necessarily even an object in the sky. It seems as though people are so manipulated by hollywood or uneducated as to what exactly that object you very well may be seeing is, that they are unable to form reasonable conclusions beyond ZOMGALIEN. Very few UFO sittings hold up as a credible unknown object, they almost always have quite simple explanations.

I most definitely do believe in intelligent life elsewhere though, the factors which make earth habitable here most certainly will exist elsewhere in the universe so I have no doubt the pieces of the puzzle fell into place elsewhere too. I do not however believe that we have been fortunate enough to ever interact with or be visited by another intelligent species. We have only been making our presence be known with radio waves for less than a century, they have not covered much distance in that time so the likelihood of them being intercepted is probably quite low....and the chance of us being stumbled upon by chance is nil.

Actually I'd expect them to come here for the minerals and smack us around while they took what they wanted. If they're anything like humans, we're fucked.

Are you implying that aliens are demons? If there is life elsewhere, we are just as much of an alien species to them as they are to us. It shouldn't be the least bit surprising that they too would be just as fearful of us. edit ~removed the minor religion hate, but seriously try to keep religious inspired theories out of here...it's not needed~

I imagine if a species is capable of getting here they'd be intelligent enough to know to take us out quietly and efficiently with something like a virus. Brute force would most likely end in us relying on nuclear weapons...not good for a planet you'd be trying to use for resources (if that's why they would come).
