Yeah, definitely disappointed with the end. Just left so much crap not tied off. Uber-lame.

Shit I have a problem with:

-he said he doesn't need to kill any more and just wants to be with his family... abandons family because he is a serial killer agree

-tells deb to call for backup to "arrest" saxon while he is still tied to his own kill chair with his own knives and is alive, just assuming saxon will keep quiet and nobody will ask questions? I knew shit was going to happen because he left his knives right there and that marshal doesn't know what Saxon looks like when it's all over the news and just releases him. To predictable.

-deb dies suddenly and randomly of a surgery complication? at least give her a meaningful death, fuck... they are making her out to be a martyr of dex's wrongdoings but they gave her a really shitty death agree, stupid death

-hannah sees dex "dies", sheds one tear, then everything is fine. She had to stay cool for Harrison

-dex still alive... did the dark passenger win after all?

-the whole anticlimax bs in general

I get what they are trying to convey... he has fucked up everything close to him and now because of him the only thing keeping him good is now dead, so he is now confined to a glass prison where the life he wants is out there but he can't have it. But I think their delivery was very half-assed. They wrote out an outline of what has to happen and who has to die and then proceeded to make it happen really inorganically.

Agreed. Very very half-assed. This whole last season was a let down. My gf who has read all of the books really didn't like Dexter becoming human thanks to Hannah, and I agree, but I was thinking it would just mean they would live happily ever after.

Right? He had to abandon them to figure that out?

Exactly, he's fighting like mad to get out, Dex shouldn't have left him like that for Deb to deal with him, Dex should have incapacitated him with an injection at the least.

What pisses me off is for a character as important as Deb was, they didn't set you up to really feel too much emotion with her death, maybe it was me not liking how the ending was going, but it was the worst death ever. She's fine, yay, oh wait jk, she's a vegetable. Wtf?

The only decent performance I feel was Quinn, and the fact that he admitted he would have killed Saxon if he could have and Dexter used that to basically commit murder. Batista was the only semi-level moral grounded person who saw what Dexter did, but obviously caved because of his own emotions. I get it, life support sucks, but letting her die then throwing her in the ocean the way he did wasn't exactly moving. He's thrown dozens of bodies over the side of his boat, that's not what she would have wanted... oh and you can't just steal a body even with a hurricane coming, there was no mention of her body missing from the hospital? Oh, yeah the brother went missing, but the sister? Oh yeah we don't know where she went either.

But he was cured when he got Hannah, and his life was becoming normal, but then wait, no can't do it. He was human and it was revenge that made him kill this season, at the end he made a CHOICE to not be normal and not live happily ever after. That was the change, Dexter didn't have a choice before he got with Hannah (or what the writers made us believe).

If a character changes that much, and no longer has an urge to kill, you can't then throw it back around and say he does because it makes a cliffhanger and really shitty ending. You've destroyed what Dexter was (serial killer), by making him human, then tried to act like it was all for nothing by making him abandon his only happy ending.

Yep, I got it too, but just as you said, completely inorganic and unrealistic. They made us not feel for any of the characters (again, save for Joey / Det Quinn) and decided to say fuck you to both camps, the people who wanted him to escape the dark passenger, and to the people who saw him as a killer who could control his life with it because he has no choice.

Thank god Breaking Bad ended better than this.
