Most bank tellers are better trained then regular cashiers or waiters. They know what to look for. Like how the ink looks, the color of the paper, the threads put into the paper, the texture, etc. Most banks also have black light set ups that can tell them if they are real as well.

For a restaurant, they are just playing it safe. If there is now way for them to know if it is legal tender, they don't have to take it.

    um....wut?

Do you mean to say that inflation has happened since 1934?

Or are you trying to say that a 1934 series $100 bill cannot buy you $100 worth of liquor at the local package store?

    ???

Is there a law saying that they have to take my payment since it is a legal tender?

..also, i called the cops and they said they cant do anything about it since its a civil matter and not criminal.??
If that sushi tab was for more than $20, I think I'd refuse your Jackson too.

    aren't you a smart one...
why not? it's a >>US $20 DOLLARS<< ..not a silver cerificate or some other sort of currency.

I really want to know the exact law that states that they have to accept legal tender...because the cop couldn't tell me nor their bitchy secretary that was rudely telling me its my problem!!:hitler:

yeah, i've seen that video. I didn't think they would have a problem with $20 bucks!!

That's what I was saying to the cop. He said that there has to be effort to pay. Then I asked him what if I made the effort but they still wont accept it and I leave. "well" he says, "if they call the cops then you can get in trouble for not paying."

There has been a huge flux of fake bills with dates before this time. This is for several reasons. A currency pen will say it's fake because the paper used was different then the stuff we use now, there is no security strip, and there is no watermark.

I've had to turn down suspicious bills like yours numerous times. It's nothing against you, the business is just looking out for it's self.

Just keep the bill or take it to your bank and have them switch you.
How does the bank know its real?
