$20 Dollar Bill refused

I work with money all day in at a major grocery chains cash office. We don't like to take stuff older then 1950 because there is no way for us to prove that it is real. There has been a huge flux of fake bills with dates before this time. This is for several reasons. A currency pen will say it's fake because the paper used was different then the stuff we use now, there is no security strip, and there is no watermark.

I've had to turn down suspicious bills like yours numerous times. It's nothing against you, the business is just looking out for it's self.

Just keep the bill or take it to your bank and have them switch you.

I had it laying around and I wanted to eat...also, I checked its value and its about $2-4 bucks more than face value.

I know it's leagal to pay in pennies, and they have to accept it. I guess there is some feeral law that says that all "legal tender" has to be accepted or something.

That's what I was saying to the cop. He said that there has to be effort to pay. Then I asked him what if I made the effort but they still wont accept it and I leave. "well" he says, "if they call the cops then you can get in trouble for not paying."

I have a huge collection of 100's 20's and 10's and 5's. these dollars are actually depreciating in value because if you think about it the person who tried to mke that 20 bux back in 34 had to try harder and longer than the people to day aka the value of our dollar vs. the 1934 dollar = 1934 is stronger
