I would like to depart from defending dell to join in on the Thinkpad love fest. I dont know how the new Lenovo version stands up but I had a thinkpad that I rocked for 8 years. That is like 3 eons in laptop time. I finally had to "retire" it because 500mhz just became too slow for todays applications.
Now it runs a lightweigh Linux build for fun and practice. The screen is a little loose but otherwise like new (save for all of the visual wear from a 8 years of use by a traveling businessman and student.
Yes sir, I love my 1.2ghz IBM thinkpad but its starting to get pretty slow...
I have a Dell Precision M60, it is one of their workstation laptops. It was a great computer until it decided to stop working from the battery. It just up and decided one day that it wanted to become a desktop. That being said, if I decide to get a good laptop again someday I will definitely be going back, and getting another Precision.
The real reason I bought the Dell Precision was the screen. It has a 15.4 inch widescreen display with a resolution of 1680 X 1050, which is really dense. I could have opted for 1920 x 1200 but i didn't at the time because I bought it through Dell's outlet. I really wanted to replace it with something with a screen just as good, but they don't really sell anything with a screen that good at Best Buy or any other store for that matter.
I got the accidental damage protection, and boy was that nice too. They came out to my house and replaced the hinges once. Really cool.
My current setup is a Toshiba U305-S2805, picked it up off a guy on Craigslist for $375 and it has 2 GB of ram and a Core2Duo T5450. fast enough to mess around on the net, just a hair bigger than a netbook with a screen that only measures 12.1 inches. I wanted something light and small, but with a better processor than an Atom, and this think is doing just great. Runs Windows 7 like a champ!
Dell all the way!

e30 Sold long ago - Too many BMWs since then... For now 2006 M5
or get what you want and install linux, or install mac osx because its all x86 hardware....
Yeah, Mac OSX will run on anything x86. Right? :giggle:
Mac people crack me up.
On a side note: I've been using Sony products since day one and I gotta say, its gonna be hard for me to stray away. I think I'm gonna order up an eeePC Asus netbook soon, and toss Windows 7 on it. 8+ hours of battery life, 160gb HD, tiny as hell, n280 processor, for 300 bucks??? Yes please!
